the knees

I need to do a general post on The Plan for January. Will try to do that today or tomorrow. For now, news of the knees. So I haven't been wearing my knee braces this season for skiing and I was doing really well. I also recently started running again -- not a lot, but easing back in ( Read more... )

Oh dear GOD my knees are aching just thinking about that. Poor baby. (Do you have any Epsom salts? I like to soak my legs in that when it's really bad.)

It sounds like you're in tune with your body, so don't beat yourself up too much. It's easy to get excited and overdo it when the pain isn't there for a while.

Yep, I've got salts for soaking. I've also got frozen peas which make the best freakin' ice packs. *g*

I'm doing okay. This post was mostly for my reference so I can keep track of the problem. If I hadn't pushed so hard on the slopes, the running probably wouldn't have been a problem. The combo is what's hard to balance. I'll figure it out though. I pay very close attention to how my body feels, but you're right about the excitement and overdoing. When I'm having a really "on" day on the mountain, I hate to stop. And I was so in the groove on Sunday.

You should come visit sometime and go snowmobiling. You know you're always welcome (along with the family).

We were sitting in the Pub and they were playing this extreme skiing DVD on one of the TVs. It's a video made here! The camera guy was shooting from the car as they drove by and there's a shot of the Pub! It was so weird to be sitting in there and then see the place on video.

The knee will be better. I know how to baby it for a few days. :)

That stinks to feel limited by joints, but you certainly are expert at knowing what to do about it to help them feel better, so I hope they do, and quickly! And that in the meantime you get in some good skiing with the braces on. I'd been wondering if y'all had been skiing, despite the cold - great, but yikes! Windchill!

We've got nice warm gear. With a face mask, goggles, and helmut the windchill's usually not too bad. We did have a day a few weeks ago though when we did two runs and then said, "Screw this. We live here, we can come back when it's warmer." *g*

Have you ever heard of moxa? It's a chinese herb that you burn so that the smoke goes into the affected area. It's quite good for aches and pains. I've had serveal differnt acupuncturists use it on me. It spells just like pot though.

Hmm. Haven't heard of it. I don't know how I'd handle it. Incense tends to bother my asthma, so I'm not sure if this would be the same. I need to start taking glucosamine again. I give it to the dog every day, you'd think that would be remind me to take it myself.
