Two shows, portfolios and painting.

Having not posted in a while I thought an update might be semi-appropriate.

Godspell ran and closed without too many bumps. Rehearsals went really well. The show ran very smoothly not including the closing matinee. Kevin, our pianist had a prior engagement so he had someone fill in for him. Normally this would not be a problem. But it was. The new guy didnt know what was going on. We made alot of changes, cuts and different stylistic choice with the music as the play developed. He met with Kevin a few times to learn the changes. He got on stage and disregarded everything. He missed cues, played the wrong styles and screwed things up. It didnt help that the cast's energy was way way down. They had to do some serious pick up during the second act. Altogether though it was a really good run. Strike only took a few hours. It was great.

After that I went into dress rehearsals for Harm's Way. It was a non-main stage show so it was smaller but just as good. It was completely non-realist and really fun. It's basically a show about angry people in a violent world. I mean two people get shot point blank in the first 10 minutes of the show. But it was really good. I acted as the lighting operator. Which isn't what it normally is in this case. We were in a space that used to be a church. So their lighting capabilities are zero. There are only a few outlets that are on two circuits. This means we could plug in 3-4 instruments max. So my the lighting was me in the next room flipping breakers on and off. It hurt my fingers a few times but it turned out pretty good for breaker flipping.

That weekend was also Major Event a.k.a a portfolio review. It went really well. I was crazy nervous. I stubbed my toe, dropped all 5 copies of my resume and fumbled through my presentation. It went well though. I got some good feedback. The adjudicator told me to calm down. She said my portfolio is really strong and I know my stuff I just have to be confident. It;s good to know that I do good work. She also made little notes on my resume and layout and such. I was a bit disappointed that she didn't ask any questions about stuff in my portfolio or about my career path, but thats ok. Im just glad it's done and over with.

For now I'm just catching up on school work and whatnot. You know, doing homework, sleeping more than a few hours a night and eating more than one meal a day (I realized that I was averaging only one meal a day during Godspell tech and run). I have more

I just got a phone call from a girl named Brianna. She is the sister of one of the lighting design students, Jordan. She's in the ROTC and they want a mural painted in Memorial Hall (where the ROTC stuff is located). Apparently she talked to Jordan and he gave her my number. Pretty cool what connections can do for you. Looks like I'll be painting a mural. Sweet!

Time to actually do homework I guess. Peace out
