Guh, long distance is teh suck.

(Also, my OCD: Juilliard doesn't have a music theater program.)

It is.

(I don't think I say she's there for that, do I? I just assumed she would be there for vocals and would dabble in the other stuff)

Oh, fair point, you didn't specify. But I don't think it's at all realistic that Rachel could get in to Juilliard, because vocal performance there = opera, not Broadway-style belting. It's the difference between an orchestral percussionist and a drummer in a rock band. A classical violinist and an Irish fiddler. A ballerina and a hip-hop dancer. (Which isn't to say that people can't do both, but I've never seen a shred of evidence to suggest that Rachel and/or Lea has any opera training, and it's not something you do without formal training.)

Again, they only do opera at Juilliard, and the basic level of the "vocal classes" in a drama degree would probably drive Rachel batty. Also, all the evidence points to she's not a very good actor. (See, e.g., failed community theater auditions, Run Joey Run video.)

Juilliard (and lots of other conservatives/music schools) look down at Broadway as if it's a lesser art form. In fact, Shenandoah is practically the only conservatory that teaches singers to belt. Other conservatories/music schools laugh at Shenandoah because of this. It doesn't make any sense for Rachel to go to one of those, when she could go to Tisch, where Matthew Morrison went, and where Lea Michele herself was accepted.

Err, sorry to the author, should probably take this debate to PMs. I love all your work! And I definitely enjoyed that you nailed the character of Quinn and everything that was going on in that tiny little moment in the latest episode! Thanks for sharing your work.
