Ups...
...And downs.
Well, the week started well.
My birthday was good, with a pleasantly surprising number of gifts and cards, including CSI:LV season 9 from Big Brother, a book of useful info for crime fiction writers (ostensibly from the teddy bears and Harvey Hamster), and two chapters of fan fic posted specially on time for the 'big day' - thanks SylvieT and ELM22.
The volcanic ash got out of the way in time for Big Brother to head for Las Vegas on Tuesday, albeit a few hours after the flight's original departure time - thankfully he knew the night before, so he left home later and didn't have to spend the time sitting around killing time at Gatwick. Also that day I got the mark for the final essay of my course and it was much better than I'd originally expected.
Then, yesterday, things started to deteriorate. I think my body decided to make middle-age official, and my back went into spasm while I was getting ready to shower. It has happened before, but not for some years. Luckily I was able to keep moving and this morning things seemed fine - until about 15 minutes ago.
Also, last time I posted, I mentioned that Harvey was itching and had lost some fur. We wanted to treat him at home because his last visit to the vet seemed so traumatic so, about a week ago, we tried 'Spot On' for hamsters. It seemed to work at first with Harvey's scratching and washing starting to diminish and I sent Big Bro off thinking things would be OK. However, Harvey was still itchy yesterday, so I tried some 'anti-scratch' spray. I was really pleased with myself for managing to do the application single handed but, later on, I realised Harvey was scratching even worse, so I've taken the plunge and booked to take him to see the Vet later today. I hope they can do something that works quickly, I feel very guilty that my attempts at home treatment have led to him putting up with this for far longer than he should have. :(
So, all in all, I'm not getting as much revision done as I intended. There's another week before Big Bro is due home, but I really must get some done today and not end up spending so much time on the internet.
