Keeping On

It’s been an incredibly busy week. I ended up working days, nights, and weekends and I’m really near burn out at this point. I just need a day to recuperate but I don’t have a single day off until August. Any days I have off are filled with workshops or Jedi Chapter meetings. I’m just praying I make it through until the Ohio Jedi Gathering and manage to get everything prepared for that in time.

On the Jedi front, Maryland Chapter meetings continue to grow thanks to the help of Sensei Leo. I still don’t quite have the number of confirmations I’d like yet for the Ohio Jedi Gathering, but new people keeping coming out of the blue to say they’ll be likely to come. I’ve learned that with Gatherings I can’t stress out about having the numbers I need to pay for the cabins and just have to faith that things will fall in place. Things always seem to work out in the end.

In terms of my personal goals, despite my busy schedule, I still accomplished all of my goals throughout the week.

1) Begin and end each day with a prayer of gratitude. (I have my own personal affirmation and also like the Reiki Principles for this.)

2) Practice QiGong daily. (I have multiple things I want to practice including my Taiji Ruler, Medical Qigong, Qi Permeating technique, and Bone Marrow Cleansing, but I’ll keep my goal to just practicing some for of QiGong in general and then start specifying and adding new techniques each week.)

3) Get at least 5 hours of sleep each night. (I believe getting enough sleep is really one of the basic needs I need to function well enough to truly follow my path.

For goal one, these are my affirmation statements in case anyone was curious:

Reiki Principles:

I give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today I will not anger.
Just for today I will not worry.
I will do my work honestly.
I will be kind to all people and every living thing.

Morning Affirmation:

I give thanks for waking into this new day of limitless potential. Please help me to greet this day with an open mind and open heart and allow me to grow and find guidance along my path.

Evening Affirmation:

I give thanks for this day and the experience, guidance, and wisdom it has brought me. I ask that I may integrate the lessons I’ve learned in order to continue to grow along my path. And I ask that the Force may manifest itself in my life in whatever way is most appropriate.

They definitely serve as good reminders for me, especially when I find myself starting to get frustrated about certain things.

For goal two, I’ve been practicing my Taiji Ruler exercise. That particular exercise should be performed 100 days in a row to truly be effective, so I’m going to keep up with it. I already did the 100 days the first time I learned it and technically you don’t need to do it again after that, but it really neat to feel the difference in energy then and the energy I feel when I’m doing it now. The first time I learned it was during my depression and it was one of the few things holding me together, but I was also physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted while doing it because of everything else going on. Now, I’m still tired because of my crazy schedule, but I’m actually whole again. It’s hard to explain. It’s another new beginning.

For my third goal, I’ve gotten at least 5 hours of sleep every night, and did my best to get more although it didn’t always work out. 5 really isn’t enough for me. I used to be able to survive on 0-3 hours of sleep for weeks at a time, but I just can’t do that anymore. Right now I think 7 or 8 would be the most beneficial number for me personally. It may take me a while to work up to that, though, and I’m not ready to up the number of hours for my goal yet because it will probably become a goal that I won’t be able to follow through with.

My new goals for this week, in addition to my old goals are:

1) Practice my Medical Qigong form at least 3 days a week. (I’ve been doing my short Taijji ruler exercise every day, so now I want to move it up to doing my full Medical Qigong form. I still need to watch the tape of my instructor, though, which is about a half hour long in order to remember how to do the form. So knowing my crazy schedule I’ll give myself a bit more leniency with this one at first and slowly work it up to being every day.)

2) Do 3 sets of 10 push ups and 3 sets of 10 supine leg raises daily. (I could probably do more, but this is another one that I’ll start off slowly and work my way up.)

3) Do at least 5 minutes of sword work every day. (There are a lot of skills I want to work on, so I’ll keep this open ended for now.)

Guess that’s it for now. Still need to do my Taiji ruler along with my new goals and still manage to get my 5 hours of sleep. :p
