Title: Something New
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Pairings: Harry/Blaise
Summary: There's this kid and his sister staying with Sirius these days - Harry's not quite sure what to make of it all.
Author's Notes: First part of the "non-Hush AU" that I mentioned a few posts back. The arc is as-of-yet untitled, and any help would be appreciated on that front. Also for
fanfic100, prompt 25 - "Strangers". Quite a few OCs, and I hope it'll get less confusing as it goes along, and I explain who everyone is, and what exactly is going on.
Something New
When he came home from work, ditched his bike in the overgrown front garden, and opened the door to the house, Harry noticed that it was abnormally quiet. Chris wasn’t screaming.
And then he remembered that Gabriel had threatened to take the baby over to Grimmauld Place, if Harry wasn’t back by eight o’clock. He glanced at the clock: it was twelve minutes past.
He sighed, and then, closing the front door again, picked up his tattered old bike, and took off for his godfather’s house.
When he arrived, the door opened only a moment after his knock, and he was greeted by a sullen Gabriel. ‘You were late,’ he said, as if in defence of his actions. ‘And Chris wouldn’t shut up.’
‘We don’t accept charity, Ga-’ a baby wailed inside, cutting Harry short, and he barged his way into the house to find his baby brother. But he stopped dead when, instead of seeing the usual sight of Sirius or Blue Jay clutching onto a screaming Chris, he was confronted by the sight of a complete stranger.
The boy looked to be about Harry’s age, though he was taller, with dark skin and close-cropped, curly black hair. The baby was held against his side. Not Chris, Harry thought, and then- Who the hell is this guy?
But his question was answered soon enough, when Sirius walked into the room, with Rosie and Blue Jay trailing behind him, and Chris held gently in his arms. ‘Harry,’ he said, grinning. ‘I was wondering when you’d turn up. There’s a couple of people I’d like you to meet.’
He gestured towards the stranger, and the boy regarded Harry with sombre eyes. ‘This is Blaise Zabini,’ Sirius said. ‘And his little sister, Bella. They’re going to be staying with me for a little while.’
Harry met Blaise’s eyes, but, for once, he had nothing to say.
