Mum Sold Me Away: A Set Up?

Nov 05, 2004 15:35

I received an anonymous call from a lady. She introduced herself as Ms Lim, by which now I already can't recall her name. She said she's my mum's friend and that my mum earlier agreed on my behalf that I would go to a business talk on Lampe Berger.

"What the...!!" Gosh, I can't believe mum did that. She sold me away *sobs* Since Ms Lim referred herself as mum's friend, so I let my hair down by telling her that mum said nothing about that talk, which is scheduled later this evening at 1900H at Times Square. She responded my answer with, "Your mum is just great! I spoke to her that day and she agreed." Being nice, I obliged with a yes since mum already agreed and I dragged along my good friend, Kelvin who almost never turned down my request. Phewww..

Now, Ms Lim told me that this is a business opportunity... blah.. blahh. blahh.. And I reckoned it's one of those MLM talks. Heck, we will just go along with it. I spoke to mum about this and she said she had to pass the buck because she thought I might handle her friend better, supposedly to decline her offer in the end. She thought she heard the word network and presumed it was related to my course of study which is entirely technical.
