What you do for the dying...

1. I wrote "deceased" on all my mothers junk mail, even though she's not dead yet. Try it, bet you'll never get junk mail again.

2. Took home all her financial records, investment accounts and bills to sort out stuff and figure out what to do with it all.

3. Took a guided tour with her of her house so I know where to find things in all her drawers, desks and cabinates. I felt like I was snooping.

4. I ask her how she feels about dying. I ask her if she is thinking of my father who died 17 years ago. I ask her if there is anything she wants to give to particular persons.

5. I look at her a lot, I smile at her a lot, I hug her a lot, I tell her how much I love and appreciate her. I tell her I will be there for her in her passing. I tell her she helped me into this world and I will help her into the next world.

6. I cry A LOT!

cancer, mom, death
