Huh? Some friend of Jadeite's or something? Looks about his age or Jadeite's age, anyway. Nephrite doesn't pay too much attention except to ask.

"Who are you?" He'd have a lot to say about that glare if it hadn't vanished.

Wait a minute. How did this guy get here suddenly without Nephrite noticing?

Well, that explains that, at least.

"You can stay if you want," Nephrite offers. "We're having a bonfire." Because this is not obvious from the glow likely visible from space.

"Sometimes," he says. He can remember the fires burning for great feasts and holidays. "I just felt like it today."

Like he's going to explain to some human - he assumes - about the greatest humiliation of his life.

"Huh? Doesn't everyone celebrate when something good happens?" Nephrite's a little lost, but that's not really a new sensation for him.

Nephrite misunderstands completely. In his experience, not having much to celebrate equates to his situation after Beryl and before getting his memories and his powers back. So his alternate is in that sort of state?

He feels bad for 'himself', but what can he do? Well, he's proof things can improve, at least.

"Why not?" he decides to ask.

Wait, he what? Nephrite shoots Saffir a rather befuddled look.

Ok, Nephrite, think it through first. Something that happened with Beryl? His memories of being with her are kind of fuzzy these days, but he'd sure something that big wouldn't escape them. Something from the past life? Then he frankly doesn't care; he'd have only fought this clan if they -

If they were the master's enemies. His look darkens.

"Just who are you and what are your intentions towards my master?"

Mmhmm. He's not quite ready to believe that, but Nephrite settles for shooting Saffir a suspicious look and a warning.

"Stay away from him." And that includes the master of Saffir's world, who Nephrite would also protect.

"Good. If you don't, I'll be there, too."

This might actually be threatening coming from the rather large guy standing in front of the giant bonfire.
