Deep inside, in the part of her heart where she remembers that different worlds allow for different events, that they allow for a Queen Beryl that is evil and cruel and thus can allow for a Selene that is good and caring... She's happy too, for being able to have this moment. Even in the surface, full of reluctance and pain she's glad to be able to have a conversation with this woman without it revolving about hurting the planet, its people... Or without Usagi being able to kill her.

Probably that's why she blushes furiously at the woman's prediction, because it makes Demando's face appear in her mind again, as well as reminds her that in the future he's her boyfriend... And thinking about the future makes the image of that pink haired Usagi appear in her mind, even if she doesn't want to. "Whatever do you know? This isn't your world, things are very different here, and I'm perfectly happy without a boyfriend! Don't talk as if it's already decided or whatever. Besides I have more important things to worry about, I can't think about boys while saving the planet;" though it's a pity. Maybe she she could do it her future self would have remembered Demando and wouldn't have sacrificed herself, leaving him behind and alone.

"My life is to protect this planet, I can't give it to anyone else. What's the point of having someone to love if you are going to leave them behind alone because you died in battle? I don't want to cause such a pain to anyone;" how could her future self do it? The only reason why the sight of Demando alone guarding her tomb didn't make her decide to push the Demando in the past away was because she decided, right then and there, that she would change that future so that such a thing never happened.

Selene's face is shadowed for a moment. She'd rather that Usagi did have the time to think about friends and boys. Although she's proud of her daughter's willingness to protect the planet they all loved and love, she wants her to have happiness as well. And Usagi does not seem happy.

"Serenity," she addresses Usagi, "That is a part of why relationships between the moon and earth have been forbidden. Beware of that as you choose who you love."

Some day, if the Moon Dynasty heiress chooses a human, she will watch them age and die if things are not changed. Crystal Tokyo found a solution in granting the long life of the ginzuishou to humans; it's not impossible. But there is still a warning to be heeded.

Usagi blinks, then shakes her head simply; "In this world relationships between the moon and earth were never forbidden. They aren't forbidden even now, with the few survivors of the Moon Kingdom living on the Earth now."

She pauses and it hits her to what the woman may be referring to. The short lives of the Moon people, don't they create the same situation she just described even if instead of dying in battle, they would die of just old age? "Do you mean in your world relationships were forbidden because of the short live span of the Moon people? But that's... If the problem is the life span then why are parents allowed to have children? Aren't the children bound to see their parents age and die while in the middle of their own lives? People grow old and die, that's how things are... If one chooses to love knowing that, isn't that their decision? If they decide to shoulder that pain, it's different than if I accept him and leave him because I died in battle! He may had accepted my destiny as a fighter but he didn't have any way to know that I would die in battle. At least with old age you know it will come and when."

"The thousands of years we live in the Moon Kingdom makes the lives of humans on Earth too short for us to form those meaningful relationships." She purposely specifies the difference in lifespans between this world - many worlds - and Usagi's.
