Well I am working on my first ever quilting project with instructions. I am making a sampler quilt that is about the size of a baby quilt. I am first trying everything out on some random cotton fabric I have and then I will try it on the "real" fabric. I was at Joanns yesterday and took forever trying to decide on which 6 fabrics I was going to buy. I had many ladies ask me what I was working on as I pulled out one bolt and then another. When I said I was trying my first quilt I got many knowing looks and "good lucks". The dummy fabric that I am using is a red hawian print and a blue flames fabric so my trial blocks are really interesting. Anyone want a sampler quilt that is a mix or hawian and flames? Schools starts again on Monday so I have a weekend to continue playing with my machine before I have to face the world again and maybe work. Hehe new hobby that is time consuming I have never had one of those before... I am ready to take on the world of quilting but realize I should start small. I think I have finally figured out how to sew a 1/4" seam allowance... only took 5 blocks... but I still need to work on lining up my seams. I am excited to say I finally have measuring and cutting down.
I have enjoyed my week off and feel like my house, laundry and even the cat are back to normal. The cat is curled around my left arm and his little heads bobs as I type. Although I have to be careful not to strech to reach a letter on the keyboard because it will wake him up. I am glad he is back to his normal self and feels he has had enough time with me and the routine is enough to keep him happy. If we disrupt his routine to much he gets weird or if we don't spend enough time with him he gets weird. Although this morning he wanted Mike to hold him and kept following Mike around. I have this feeling that Mike will have a shadow all day long tomarrow.
The sewing machine is calling my name... maybe I can talk the cat out of my arm so I can go use it to piece my last dumy block.
