RuPaul has posed for a picture in which he appears as both Barack and Michelle Obama. The gag is for his upcoming Logo series.
I've always adored RuPaul, but then after my year and a half as a dresser for the local drag shows in Milwaukee I admit I have a special place in my heart for the Queens of the world. I don't know how people will feel about this, but I thought it was a great tribute, and knowing Obama's wonderful sense of humor (just watch his Ellen Show dance groves) I think he and the family will get a chuckle from the pose as well.
Update: Thanks to ladyjax (see below) I learned some disturbing things that made me consider removing this picture rather than support what might be a less than honoring parody. It's hard to say the motivation of this in light of RuPaul's past view on what was acceptable entertainment and humor. For now the pic will stay as long as it proves to be playful rather than malicious, though I admit my past respect for RuPaul’s work and his activist writings has been dimmed at his careless words and hard to understand support of what I would call a racist performance. *sigh* One more gem of the past shown to be cracked in the light of knowledge.
