Green Monday: Natural hair Removal - Moom

Apr 28, 2008 12:01

I’m a bit torn on the issue of hair removal. My eyebrows are bushier than I’d like, so I admit to having those waxed on occasion. Yeah, it’s a vanity thing, it's silly I know. I’m not sure on the leg waxing issue (I never do my yoni area, though if I had a gal with a preference I might), since I never wax/shave my legs in the winter, though with all the cons this summer (and the treat of swimming suit season) its something I’ve debated. If I was going to get a bit of waxing in, and with the thoughts of being environmentally friendly while doing it, I would use this…

(taken from Moom site, not a product indorsment…yet)

Effective, easy to use and trouble-free, this organic hair remover has embraced ESSENTIAL OILS for their endless benefits in order to offer a real solution to the hair removal problem. MOOM® is founded on the premise that the skin is a receptive organ that absorbs what you put on it including the harmful substances found in certain hair removers (resins, alcohol, wax, and chemicals).

Okay, this is Moondancer’s take on this. The idea of a product that is nothing more than chamomile, water, lemon, tea tree, and sugar is certainly what I would call a natural recipe. It’s meant to be used warm, not hot, which is much nicer on the skin, and can be used anywhere on the body.

This also means ripping out clumps of hair…ow. Though if it really does last 6-8 weeks like they say, a bit of ow once every month or two during the summer…not too horribly bad. Better than throwing razor bits in some landfill. Below is the video Moom has on their site, seems easy enough to follow.

So heat to honey consistency, follow the natural line of the hair, press on the cloth a few times and YANK! Okay, I’m still at ow, but I’m certainly curious. Wonder if I can even use it to do my own brows... Yep, it says here it can be used for brows too. And the cloths are reusable/washable…that’s also a plus…checking the ordering page for cost…

Product ID: MIK6 MOOM® Organic Hair Removal kit with Tea Tree (Classic)

This kit includes all you need for a surprisingly refreshing hair removal!
• 6 oz. (170 g) 100% Natural Hair Remover
• 18 washable, reusable Fabric Strips
• 4 wooden applicators
Price: $19.95

$20 for how long I wonder? The refill is also $20, not too bad at all since it’s 12 oz instead of 6 oz. They also have variations with rose or lavender instead of tea tree. They also have prewaxed strips which might be worth a try. You can also get the fabric strips themselves as a refill. And a travel kit, not bad at all. All very convenient. They do have them in stores, so off to check if any by me carries this stuff.

Well, that’s a bother, no list of stores on the website. I did call them directly and though the woman I spoke to was very nice, she said because they sell through a distributor she didn’t have a list of stores. So I’ll have to call around, or order it online. I’m planning to at least test it out, and I’ll let ya’ll know what I think. If any of you have used this product, on one like it, by all means let us know what you thought of it.
