... and I daresay,
Portlandia is not far off the bat in its satire . . . so many skinny jeans, flannel & hipster-meets-90s culture!
That being said, I had a fun mini-vacay there--
so many food carts! Not to mention swanky coffeehouses that put Starsucks to shame, as well as crafty cocktail bars and passionate-but-friendly breweries! Oh and NO SALES TAX (so weird seeing all my receipts come out in such nice round even numbers!)
That being said, I think it's a city more for visiting time-and-again... or maybe live for a short stint... I found myself missing the big city nightlife from the likes of LA, NYC and SF after a couple of days. Oh, and I was told it's rainy 8-9 months out of the year (luckily, last weekend it was overcast with light sprinkling at worst.)
Still, looking forward to a return trip in maybe 2-3 years (after I cross a few more cities off my list - Chicago & Seattle, I'm looking at you! Maybe even
the "other" Portland)... in the short meantime, gotta detox from all that eating & drinking (even though I did urban-hike everywhere in PDX to try offset some of that caloric damage.)
