At last, though, she seemed to have gotten her answer. "May your hunt prove fruitful, and may you join us quickly in our attack against the hated Protoss homeworld," Cerebrate Daggoth broadcasted, and its words struck the minds of every Zerg.
Kerrigan's did not. She was silent for a moment, and then her eyes flicked to River. "I don't join," she said, some displeasure on her face, "I lead."

The next gleaming Protoss warrior was ready for River. He struck at her with his psi-blade, its humming blue light reflected in the warrior's armor.
"Or flee, and I'll keep your punishment lasting for days, months, eternity..." Kerrigan was enjoying this. Now if only she could find her charges...

For a while River let herself get lost in fighting. There were no plans, no past, nu future, just tearing and slashing and death. Then she reached out for Kerrigan, following in her tracks.

The Protoss were retreating. She met less and less of them along the way. They were all moving far, far away from her. She managed an irritated growl, and while she was aware of River's approach, she did not yet respond to it.
