what a loooooong week.
and a long and crazy weekend ahead...
wouldn't have it any other way, i spose!
i had to turn in all my poster projects on wednesday. 3 posters total... 52 bucks worth of mounting and lamination stuff. i mean, DAMN. i love my major, but that's freakin' ridiculous. reason #437 why my parents are fantastic - they are entirely too supportive of me & my creative habits... i'd be all, "best of luck with that business major, sweetie..." really, would you put up with that kinda crap? yeah. my parents are the best.
oo, and here's reason #438...
eeee!
and the picture doesn't even come CLOSE to doing it justice. the face is animated... you can see the word love is kinda sectioned off into pieces... well, it spells it out, letter by letter, and then puts the drop shadows on it one at a time, then removes them one at a time, leaving just the word love, and then it starts over. mesmerizing, i'm telling you. i'm obsessed. fossil rocks my face. seriously, i have such a watch fetish it's not even funny...
so, i not-so-discreetly IMed my momma the link to the watch, and she and my dad got it for me for my birthday! they just had me order it and have it shipped to myself since that would be easier, but now it's here. a week early. of course i had to open it and look, and it's WAY cooler in person... i love the big fat band... hell, i love everything about it... it's so retro-ish. i can't quit looking at it. i have made myself put it back in the box and not wear it, cause it's not my birthday yet, but i continuously find myself taking it out once again to stare at it in awe. my roommates have been making fun of me nonstop since it got here this afternoon. granted, they all think it's really cool too, and it's funny... almost every one of them as soon as they saw it said, "that is so...you!" hehe.
but they're making fun of me anyways, because... well... i deserve it.
i am, in fact, a huge dork.
so here's the big question:
am i to the point in my life where it is no longer necessary to wait until the actual day of my birthday to enjoy my present? tried calling my parents to see what they thought, but they're in CT for the weekend and i think dad has turned off his phone for the night. my roomies are threatening to wrap it up & keep it from me until next week. but it's A WHOLE WEEK AWAY. exactly one week from today... i'm not sure i can make it. but my inner child wants to make me wait. you remember the anticipation of waiting for your birthday... it seemed like forever in between them - now it seems like i just had one, and now i'm about to have another one. they were such a HUGE DEAL when we were younger... or even last year, for that matter. but now... i don't know, 22 seems so... i don't know... anticlimactic. does that mean no more milestone birthdays until 30? jeez... scary thought.
ok, so whaddya think?
i should wait, shouldn't i?
...meanwhile, i've got a crazy weekend coming up... i was supposed to be performing with the gospel choir tomorrow night at halftime of the basketball game, but that got cancelled... i was looking forward to it, but i think may end up being a blessing-in-disguise. i COULD use more time to work on stuff, although i probably WON'T... [oh, and
howie, if you guys are all going to dinner or something, i may try to join you, so please gimme a call, or let me know plans some other way, and i'll definitely try to make it this time... promise!] maybe going to supper club w/ court and a few others late tomorrow night, but that remains to be seen...
then saturday's the big game w/ ole miss, which will hopefully be a really good game - but the REAL excitement of the day won't happen till saturday night, cause it's maureen's 21st birthday! and you can guess what that means... that's right - PARTY AT THE BBH, baby!!! we've been telling people about it for months, so hopefully it'll be the major blowout event she deserves! it's about damn time for her to be "of age"... and after she is, auburn better look out! ::wink:: she's already vowed that we must all do "roomie shots" together, so it's looking like a good time will be had by all here at 150 toomer - feel free to drop by and partake in the festivities!
of course, i have a sneaking suspicion that sunday morning will be showing up all too soon... i've gotta meet with my "superior" at the plainsman for my first official day of work! hurrah! well, yay for work, not for having to GO to work. but beggars certainly can't be choosers.
then sunday, 5pm, St. Luke's in Opelika, it's the Auburn/U of Alabama Gospel Choir Concert! it's a joint concert, and i'm actually pretty excited - it'll be nice to hear their choir, and i think we sound really good, so it should be a lot of fun - some of the girls even told me tonight that i had rhythm! ::grin:: i always thought i did, but being in choir had made me doubt a little, and since it was coming from a bunch of black girls i felt like it was a HUGE compliment! we have to dance during some songs, and they were teasin' me about gettin' down... especially after one of the 2 white guys in the choir made some comment about not being able to dance, and the director pointed out that in a large group of black people, a white person should never draw attention to the fact that he has no rhythm unless he wants people to tease him about it... hehe. so of course the other 4 of us "white folk" were all laughing and ducking our heads in [not so] mock shame, but my soprano girls were all turning to me and saying, "naw girl, you feelin' it..." "i saw you bouncin' - you got it goin' over there", and my personal favorite :: "you ain't white... you just yellow!"
hmm... that's good, right?
yellow is better than white?
the way she said it, i'm guessing it is.
sweet. i'm yellow.
so if you wanna come see my yellow self get down with my sistas and brothas in the AU gospel choir, please c'mon down to St. Luke's on sunday - we'd love to have you! plus, if for no other reason, you'd have something else to tease me about... [like you need that]. if you need directions, lemme know!
well, that's my weekend plan in a nutshell... with a little studying and artsy stuff thrown in there, of course. ::smile:: hope you've all had a wonderful week, and wishing you an even more wonderful weekend!
much ♥ to all.
