The Stepsister Scheme. They're light but they're fun, and they pass the
Bechdel Test in spades, which is nice. And so far the book really avoids the whole "adventuring women need a male protector along" trope. I'm not surprised that I'm finding it generally feminist in a lot of ways; Jim C. Hines first came to my attention through his awesome
Cover Posing project. That's basically why I looked up one of his books to try out; his worldview suggested I wouldn't end up throwing his books across the room.

ONTD_Political: Marriage Equality Is a Conservative Cause -- I disagree with Huntsman on many issues, but I respect him a good bit. A republican party that looked more like him would scare me as a progressive, since they'd actually offer a good deal more competition. I still think it'd be a good thing though.
ONTD_Political: It takes a B.A. to get a file clerk job - classism ahoy! -- worth reading the comments for some interesting discussion about whether this violates EEOC. Also, I see this crap here in my job as well; some of our most long-term (and thoroughly capable) employees don't even have a high school diploma, but you can't even get a job in our department now without a B.A. from what I understand from folks.
