confessions of a dangerous mind

Feb 12, 2006 00:20

I have a confession to make and it's not pretty, even though my mind isn't really dangerous, hahaha. Ok. Here it is: I love to gossip. I do. But it's really a love-hate relationship, because I always want to know what's going on in other people's lives, but I hate that gossip is often malicious. Embarrassingly, I have been the party that spreads said malicious gossip and afterwards I usually feel pretty guilty, but it's too late because juciy info travels fast. But see, what does this information really matter, in the end? It is really as simple that by putting someone else down or slandering their good name, we feel better about ourselves? Unfortunately, I think it's human nature to gossip. Sometimes we're all so private and insecure about our own lives that we feel the need to judge someone else's. Perhaps that's the worst part about the gossip, the silent judging that goes on while the information is being passed from one to another. In a world where violence occurs on every street, I think we have enough judgment to last us a lifetime.

I think that's enough confession for one night. Perhaps I'll go see my priest.
