We took Elvis (our big male cat) for his annual vet visit on Saturday morning. He was due for a couple of shots and just a general check-up. We did get some disturbing news though. He apparently has a heart murmur. This is a relatively new thing, because he didn't have it last year at his check-up. He's not showing any signs of a heart problem...like acting lethargic, not eating, or not playing. Actually, it's quite the opposite really. He is scheduled for an EKG and an ultrasound of his heart on Thursday. The vet said it could be nothing to worry about but it could also be the early signs of heart disease. I know people have heart murmurs and live perfectly normal, long, healthy lives...but I was just shocked to hear that there may be a problem. My pets are like my kids and Elvis is such a mama's boy.
In the afternoon, we went up to Greenwood Lake where my mom keeps her boat. It was a nice day and it was great to just relax for a while. My brother was supposed to come up with my nephews, but for whatever reason, he didn't show. I hate when he does that. He didn't even bother to call and say he wasn't coming. Totally ridiculous since he knew that we were all waiting for them. We tried to call him, but he didn't pick up. It's been two days and he still hasn't called anyone. Oh well. He's like that sometimes and it really gets on my nerves. But, we had a nice day at the boat without them and it's their loss.
On Sunday we slept late...which I so needed. Then we went mini golfing. It was such a nice day that we didn't waste it sitting in the house. My husband and I tied but he claims that he didn't want to show off and kick his pregnant wife's butt because I was at a disadvantage. My disadvantage being that my belly is starting to get in the way and it made it slightly more difficult to use the golf club. Of course, I think he's full of you-know-what...but I'll let him think that. Afterward, we had a nice lunch and then went to the mall to see if I could get my new phone.
The phone thing has been an issue for a while now. When my husband got his a week or so ago, they didn't have the one I wanted. I found out a couple days later that they are discontinuing that model and not getting anymore in. Ok, fine...nothing I can really do about that. So, we went in on Friday night to pick out something else. Everything I liked was out of stock and the sales rep really didn't do a job of giving me that warm fuzzy feeling. He didn't offer to order anything or even really try to remedy the problem. We tried 2 other stores. Same thing, no one had anything I wanted. So, yesterday we went to a different mall and tried there. Not only did they have the phone I wanted but they were very pleasant and helpful. He set the whole thing up for me and even transferred all my numbers from my old phone to the new one. I really appreciated the service and told him so. I think we'll use that Cingular store from now on, even if it is more out of the way.
The cell phone store was right next to the mall's movie theater. We were just in time to catch Superman Returns, so we did. I actually enjoyed it and thought it was pretty well done. Usually those kinds of movies aren't my thing, but I thought it was worth the money. My husband enjoyed it too, but he was a little disappointed in the ending (he kind of thought it was too mushy).
The unfortunate thing about weekends is that they are only two days. And in my opinion...too short. It's back to work this morning, but the mortgage needs to be paid somehow I guess.
