The weekend was kind of broken up. I had Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday off...but I had to work on Monday. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have a 4 day weekend and get some rest. Saturday we were supposed to go to Long Island for a BBQ, but it got canceled...not that I'm complaining. It's not that I didn't want to go to the BBQ, it was just the thought of all that holiday traffic that I was not looking forward to. So, instead we ran errands almost all day. My husband finally got his new PDA cell phone that he's been agonizing over for a couple months. He wanted it, but he wasn't too happy about the price tag. But, his new company has a working relationship with Cingular and employees get a pretty good discount. The $400 phone only ended up costing us about $200 (with his discount and the rebate offer). Not too bad. My new phone, although definitely not a fancy PDA, is on it's way. Apparently, it's a popular model and they had to order me one. No big deal, I'm not in any hurry. Sunday we went to a friend's 30th birthday party. It was outside in their back yard and everything was going well until the thunderstorms started. But, at that point the party had been going on for a few hours. I was tired and it was very hot, so we decided that was our cue to leave. It was fun before the thunder and lightening though.
On Monday we had a doctor's appointment for an ultrasound of the baby. We told the technician that we didn't want to know the sex...at this point you can generally tell (especially if it's a boy). So, she did all the measurements she needed to do and everything is looking great. We could see well defined facial features (we saw them before, but they were still a little fuzzy) and the baby moving all around. At first the baby was lying on it's back with it's legs all folded up kind of in an Indian style position. She snapped a couple of pictures of that and when she went to get a third, the baby suddenly straightened it's legs and moved out of the field of view. When that third picture came out of the printer, it was hilarious. All you can see are the two legs straight out and a tiny hand right in between "covering up" any little parts we don't want to see just yet. My husband said that the baby is either really modest or very naughty.
Yesterday we went up to my in-laws. I took my mother-in-law out baby shopping while the guys stayed home and cut up part of their concrete patio. Surprisingly it was a fairly pleasant day. The guys worked really hard in the heat and no in-laws were hurt in the process. So, it was a good day overall.
