Baby Cheers

I had my first regular doctor appointment yesterday. It was actually supposed to be last week, but the doctor had an emergency and had to reschedule. Anyway, this is a new doctor for me since my old one decided that she was no longer delivering babies. I kind thought that's what OB/GYN's did, but what do I know. The doctor and the nursing staff were very nice and made me feel really comfortable. Which to me, is extremely important. This baby wasn't conceived the old fashioned way, so I am probably a bit more nervous about things than the average mommy-to-be. They really took time to answer my questions and they even did another ultrasound to give me a little more reassurance. I'm so glad they did! Our baby actually looks like a baby now! Two weeks ago at our last ultrasound, all you could see was this little jelly bean type thing with no real features yet. Yesterday I got to see the head, arms, legs, and it's little pot belly. As the ultrasound tech and I were watching the screen, the baby started to move and wave it's arms!!! It was so amazing! I cried and even got the tech (who is almost 8 months pregnant herself) to cry too! My husband unfortunately wasn't there for this appointment, so he's pretty disappointed. But, he's happy that everything is moving in the right direction.

Anyway, I'm glad today is Friday. I'm not sure I can take another work day this week. We are celebrating mother's day on Saturday and having a BBQ at my brother's house. They have to go to my sister-in-law's family on Sunday, so we are doing our side a day early. As it turns out, it works out better for everyone. My sister is coming home later tonight to bring some of her stuff home from college. She figured she wouldn't be able to get everything in one trip. But, she needs to back early on Sunday for work. So, having mother's day a day early is good because then we can all be in one place at one time. I haven't seen her since March, so I'm excited she's coming home. My in-laws are on vacation in St. Barth's....they go every year around this time because my father-in-law is a college professor and he needs a break after the school year. We did mother's day with them before they left. So, we are pretty much free on Sunday. Imagine that. I think we are going to start cleaning out the baby's room. It's going to take a long, long, long time (there's a twin bed in there...somewhere), so we should start. Besides cleaning that room out, we need to clean out the basement so we have some place to put the furniture and all the crap from the baby's room. Ugh!
