“So,” says a playful, insolent, all too familiar voice, startling Sam from his shower and almost making him slip to his death... which would’ve just blown, given the fact that the apocalypse had been averted only four days ago.

Back when Gabriel had joined them, a little after Ellen and Jo's deaths, Sam hadn't been comfortable even being in the same room as Gabriel. The days had been tense, with Cas keeping an ever present eye on Gabriel always.

As war forced the four of them to stay even closer together - separating meant death - Sam had seen Gabriel's slow transformation, becoming more help than hindrance. Albeit in his own particular way: his sense of humor remained a hazard in itself.

Gabriel had proven himself enough to make Dean not want to kill him on a daily basis. Enough for Cas to trust him. Enough for Sam to not feel completely disgusted that he actually found Gabriel interesting.

Still, it doesn't mean he felt comfortable sharing a bathroom with the guy while he's naked.

“Dude,” interrupts Sam before Gabriel has any chance to continue, shouting over the noise of the shower. “Do you mind waiting outside? I’m naked here.”

Sam swears he can see Gabriel’s smirk thought the foggy shower glass pane. “I know. Why do you think I’m here now?”

Sam rolls his eyes and continues rinsing himself as best he can, self conscious as Gabriel is making him feel. Gabriel’s innuendos have been flying all over the place practically ever since he’d joined them, and Sam has been doing his best to ignore them for just as long.

At an uncertain point some months ago, Sam had suddenly realized he was curious. Curiousity led to denial, which only led to more curiousity, which led to being interested, which led to finally giving in and jerking off with Gabriel’s name on his lips like there was no tomorrow.

Which, at the time, there hadn’t been.

Only now there is a tomorrow and Sam isn’t quite sure what to do with himself. Except continue to ignore Gabriel, that is.

“So,” says Gabriel, trying to recover his original line of thought. Sam turns the water off and grabs the towel he’d hung over the shower glass pane earlier, glad he doesn’t have to open the shower door and give Gabriel an eyeful. “Now that Mike’s up at home and not coming here and Lucy’s dead and not coming back, what now?”

Sam dries himself inside the shower stall and comes out with the towel draped around his waist. “What do you mean, what now?” he says, watching the floor and his damp feet. When Gabriel doesn’t answer right away, Sam looks up.

Gabriel’s eyes travel the length of Sam’s body and, instead of leering, Gabriel simply swallows. He doesn’t look nervous - he’s probably not capable of it - he just looks… incredibly serious about wanting Sam.

Sam still remembers Gabriel's face after one of his brothers stabbed Sam in the gut in a desperate - and not too well thought out - attempt for Lucifer not to win: no One True Vessel, no Lucifer. Gabriel had hovered over him, brow furrowed and lips set, his hands dripping with Sam's blood as he hurried to mojo-heal Sam before life escaped him.

Gabriel had been Dean's favorite person for days after that, and he hadn’t spoiled Dean's mood only because Cas pulled out the I'm-the-only-brother-who-tolerates-you card.

Sam swallows himself because he can handle Gabriel joking about being attracted to him but Gabriel actually being serious about it, he’s not sure he can take. Or, if he happens to be perfectly honest with himself, resist.

“I mean, what does life hold for Sam and Dean Winchester now that the end of the world is no more?” Gabriel’s voice is steady, teasing even, but Sam sees his Adam’s apple bobbing, his eyes roaming Sam’s chest.

“Same thing as before?” says Sam as he leaves the bathroom, Gabriel in tow and probably checking out his ass, which doesn’t make Sam feel as awkward as it should. “Hunting monsters, saving people, same drill. Only without heaven and hell breathing down our necks.”

“No more than usual;, at least,” says Gabriel, throwing himself on Sam’s bed as Sam rummages through his bag to get clean clothes.

“Sadly true. The real question is,” Sam says, as he gets clothes out of his bag and wonders how he’s going to get dressed without flashing Gabriel. He stops and looks at him. “What will you two do? Are you going back home?”

“Meh,” shrugs Gabriel, producing a Milky Way out of thin air and biting into it, and Sam can’t blame him for the lack of enthusiasm. Castiel had been just about the only of Gabriel’s brothers who hadn’t tried to kill him or kiss his ass so Gabriel wouldn’t bust theirs. When Gabriel had come back to their lives, Cas had stood his ground, stood up to him, and protected the Winchesters; Gabriel had laughed out loud and said pleasantly, “You’ve changed, little brother.”

There’s a string of caramel clinging to one side of Gabriel’s mouth and Sam can’t help but stare at it, any deep thought of Gabriel’s family flying out the window. Gabriel wipes it with his finger and says, “Cas still wants to find Daddy and give him the Sam Winchester approach to things. You know, talk things out.”

Sam rolls his eyes, grabbing his clothes, trying to do stuff.

“Me, I’m feeling more like the Dean Winchester approach to things. Shoot first, ask questions later.” He shrugs, trying to disguise his disappointment in the family. “I might tag along.”

Sam frowns in amusement. “You, ‘tag along’? Since when?”

Gabriel sits up in bed. “I’ve been tagging along with you three clowns for almost a year now, haven’t I?”

Sam leans towards Gabriel, puzzled. “You could be running the show in heaven. Zachariah is history; your brothers need a strong presence. You could easily be calling the shots up there until your Dad comes back.”

Gabriel swings his legs and sits on the bed, looking up at him. “Sam, I’ve been on earth for more than a millennium. It’s like crack, it’s not easy to leave,” he smirks. Sam only looks at him. “What can I say, humanity’s fun.”

It surprises Sam a bit. Not that fact that he’s staying at Cas’ side - throughout the fighting, when heaven had discovered Gabriel was still alive, first they had tried to recruit him, and when Zachariah saw that that wasn’t going to happen, he had tried to kill him. Cas had been the only one who had always been at Gabriel’s side, supporting even his right to change his mind and leave them all behind. Gabriel had shown a sense of family and loyalty there they hadn’t seen on him before, a sense of family and loyalty that was eerily similar to Dean and Sam’s feeling for each other.

“Still, I do suspect that Cas’ ulterior motive for staying on Earth has more to do with your brother than our Father, if you know what I mean.”

Sam winces involuntarily. Three months ago Gabriel and Sam had entered their motel room of the week only to find Dean and Cas in a, um, rather compromising position. With Cas on top.

So, yeah, Sam knows what he means. “I wish I didn’t, but I do.”

Sam is still simply standing there holding his clothes, wondering how to get dressed with Gabriel there watching him. He’s close to not caring if Gabriel gets an eyeful or not - the room is cold and he’s naked.

Gabriel is still looking at Sam. “Who would’ve thought, an angel and a human…”

Sam sighs. “Gabriel.”

Gabriel leans in. “You know, you never said no.”

“No,” he says with strength, trying to put meaning behind it. Trying. “Gabriel, I know you.”

Gabriel blinks, as if finding the idea ridiculous. “You do.”

“Yeah. You conjure your girl or guy of the night and they’re gone by morning,” he says, grabbing his clothes and going to the bathroom, dumping them over a chair. He talks as he walks. “It’s the same thing my brother did for years, and I hated that for him and I’m sure as hell not going to become one of the few real ones in your long list of conjured up, horny people,” he concludes, crossing his arms.

Gabriel nods, once. “Tell me something, Sam,” he says, standing up. “When was the last time you saw me conjure anyone? For recreation, I mean. When was the last time you saw me with a girl or guy on my lap?”

Sam recalls plenty of imaginary people but lately all he’s seen has been in the heat of battle, saving their asses from a well placed knife or vampire bite, helping them win. He can’t remember the last time Gabriel conjured up someone for pleasure, and considering how tight-knit they’d been living the past three months, they all would’ve known if Gabriel had been having sex at all.

Sam can’t come up with an answer.

Gabriel stands up, going to Sam. “I could conjure Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Drew Barrymore all in one go and I don’t, because they don’t do it for me.”

Sam turns to him and is one second away from laughing out loud.

Gabriel sighs. “Fine, they do. Hey, I’m not made of stone!” he laughs. He’s close to Sam now, invading personal space, close enough for his breath to hit Sam’s neck. “My point being - I could have anyone, and I don’t because I want you. Hell, I could conjure up a twin of you and I don’t because you’d hate that.” He sighs, a sincere, long sigh. “You’ve turned me into a chick flick, Samuel.”

Sam grins at that. He's still not completely sure he believes Gabriel, but that is apparently everything his brain needed to shut down and let Sam’s dick run the show. He grabs Gabriel, turning him around and slamming him against the wall, hands moving to grab Gabriel’s face as he kisses him, his tongue not even needing to ask for permission to enter Gabriel’s mouth.

It’s so needy. It’s ridiculously needy, bordering on desperate, hands pushing to grab, to claw, to fist in clothing and never let go. He squishes Gabriel against the wall as he takes his mouth, biting his lower lip, the angel taking Sam’s strength easily. He feels every single inch of Gabriel pressed up against him, the towel doing little to hide his growing erection.

Gabriel makes a little sound of triumph as he pulls Sam’s towel off his body and throws it across the room, palming his ass and groaning; there’s a teasing finger down there and Sam gasps and bites and it only makes Gabriel smirk into the kiss. Sam sneaks his hands in between them to undo Gabriel’s jeans, pulling them down together with his underwear in one go, sending them away and finally getting some skin-on-skin action, which makes them both groan throatily.

“I still hate you,” says Sam, though it doesn’t hold much weight given their current position.

“Sure you do big boy,” Gabriel says as he grabs Sam’s ass to grind them both even further together, the friction making them nuts.

It is over embarrassingly quick, but neither of them seems to mind much. There’s no time to do anything but grind there on the spot, their dicks standing to attention and leaking as Sam grabs them both together.

“I want to fuck you,” he says into Gabriel’s ear. “I’ve wanted to fuck you so bad for so long it’s -” he stops speaking when he feels Gabriel lightly spasming, wanting to see his face as he comes, with Sam’s name on his lips. The sound alone, let alone the sight, drives Sam over the edge, and they come almost in unison, their legs finally giving in as they tumble to the carpeted floor.

Sam ends between Gabriel’s legs, leaning on him as he tries to recover his breath. Gabriel grabs Sam’s face, looking like he's neither winded nor tired, and kisses him chastely - no biting, no tongue, just skin-on-skin and a raw feeling behind the kiss that sends Sam’s head spinning. Gabriel smirks into the kiss in a way that makes Sam bite that grin off his lips.

Sam lets Gabriel pull him to the bed, sweaty and sated. “I hate that you’re doing this to me,” says Sam as he leans against the headboard, looking as Gabriel ditches whatever little clothing he had left on.

Gabriel turns to him and, very carefully, doesn’t smirk, leer or grin. “And ironically, for the first time in a millennia, I’m not actually doing anything.”

“I don’t get it,” says Sam pointing out the ‘it’ as he lets a hand roam Gabriel’s back, loosely grabbing his waist. It’s heady being in bed with Gabriel, even when the guy is just taking his shoes off and Sam is still sprawled on the bed, recovering. Sam tightens his grip on Gabriel’s waist, bringing him closer to him, and breathing in the scent of chocolate from Gabriel’s breath and the stale smell of drying come. “I don’t understand,” he says.

Gabriel smiles in a way that makes Sam’s dick get ready for round two. “Neither do I, Sam. But you know what’s the big difference between us?” he asks, not really bothering to wait for an answer as he straddles Sam’s hips. Sam swallows in anticipation as Gabriel leans in. “I don’t care.”

Sam brings him down and kisses him, long, deep and luxurious, and when he realizes he could get off on just kissing Gabriel, he says, “I’m so screwed.”

Gabriel doesn’t answer with a joke. Instead he grins and continues kissing Sam, his neck and down his chest, choosing to speak with actions and not words. Nope, thinks Sam as he watches Gabriel’s face. We both are.

And Gabriel, as if reading his mind, smiles up at him from the spot on Sam’s chest he was kissing, an open smile for once, before continuing kissing his way down.
