I listened to them almost obsessively while writing After You've Gone. I tried my hand at uploading them to RapidShare yesterday and OMGWTFYAY it worked!
Seriously, I've never been able to upload files before. So I thought I'd share.
They're not exactly modern rock, of course. It's the kind of songs you'd have heard in the 1940s (a type of music I adore immensely). It's my first time sharing songs, so if anyone downloads, tell me if the links work properly or something isn't right.
After You've Gone - Loudon WainwrightAfter you've gone and left me cryin' // After you've gone there's no denyin' // You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad // You'll miss the dearest pal you've ever had
YES. I know. I know that even if you stand on your head, squint and frown, the lyrics don't apply. Not from Rodney's point of view, not from John's. But I love this song more than I can say - so much that I 'borrowed' the title for my fic. (This song can be found in The Aviator OST, a CD I adore with an unholy love)
All Too Soon - Mildred BaileyAll too soon // We had to part // The moment you had touched my heart // And with you went my dreams // All too soon
AH, this one applies. From the first word to the last, this applies. It's a beautiful, beautiful song. I recently discovered Mildred Bailey and oh my god, I love her voice. Yet another addition to my RIDICULOUSLY HUGE collection of 1940s music. Seriously, ridiculous.
