I've been reading a lot of stuff about the hurricane and the conditions in New Orleans right now and I'm disgusted. I can't believe that this is happening in my country In this country! but yes, SU is doing the same, and 300+ students from Tulane will be coming here for atleast the next semester.

I'm just so furious about the whole thing. I want to take most of the elected officials in the federal government and a lot of the appointed ones too and just chuck them out the door. The federal government hasn't done shit. I forget where I read about it, but some newscaster made the comment that the difference between the US and a Third World Country in this situation is that a foreign dictator would have gotten better aid there quicker.

I think the BBC article really captures the sentiment of it: I'm ashamed that my country has fucked this up so badly. How can be pretend to be a leader in the world if we can't even save our own people from starving after a major city is flooded? I'm just shocked and appaulled.
