Well. After completely wasting my two days off work (not to mention the entire fall!), first through a total lack of Christmas feeling, and then through snow and ice, not to mention a disinclination to get off my fat ass, I've actually managed to accomplish some Christmas shopping today. Well, with a great deal of help from
dr_zrfq, that is. But at least now we know what we're getting for almost everyone left on the list. I still have to venture into a mall to take care of one of my nieces, but everything else should be managed with more sanity.
Other accomplishment of the weekend: we played
Robo Rally yesterday at
the gaming day I mentioned earlier. This is a game I enjoy a great deal, although I usually play it very badly. Yesterday, every single one of my programs was executed exactly as planned - not only did I correctly judge the actions of all of the board elements, but none of the other players did anything to disrupt me either[1]! I got to the first flag before anyone else, and when we broke for the night, it was judged that I had won, because I was one row closer to the next flag than the next closest person! Go me!
I was happy to see that
jaine_parr seemed to fit into the group pretty well. This was a Good Thing, because I felt bad about abandoning her, but by the time she arrived, I had already committed to Robo Rally, which was a game that didn't interest her terribly. Fortunately, she was able to get a game of Fluxx with the other people who weren't racing robots, and presently they switched over to crafts and chat anyway.
[1] I had stated this thought in considerably stronger terms at the time, which surprised
visgoth enough for him to comment on it. Apparently my subconcious language-filtering is finally working better.
