Just finished reading Grapes by Don Cherry (with Stan Fischler). For the record, yes, I am a Don Cherry fan, but I am also a Don Cherry critic. I like, roughly, 60% of what he says and borderline hate the other 40%. But I've grown to just... appreciate him for who he is. I reccomend this approach to everybody.
As far as the book goes, it was great. The whole book was dictated by Don Cherry, transcribed by a bunch of lackeys, and then assembled by Stan Fischler (also for the record, I LOVE Stan Fischler - read Cracked Ice and you will, too). So on one hand it has the feeling that you're just listening to Grapes forever but on the other it's well put together thanks to the Maven.
Like most of Grapes' stories, you're tempted to not believe half of what he says, but it sure is entertaining. Very candid and frank, straight to the point and just... Grapes. I think even a Grapers-hater could appreciate this book - I think they'd appreciate Grapes more after reading it.
I have done EVERYTHING to not pack. This is not good.
