one block from Casa Fiesta, the best Mexican place in DC
OMG... I can't believe you KNOW that place!!! It's seriously AMAZING, but so hole-in-the wall... no one ever knows what I'm talking about when I talk about it! But dude, it's SERIOUSLY the best Mexican in DC. And maybe the cheapest! Whoa... do a lot of people from American know about it? I've always assumed it was like my little restaurant secret...
I've been called a bandwagoner because I like the Flames.I don't like the term "bandwagoner" in this situation. You cheering for the Flames doesn't make you a bandwagoner, because they're not "your team." You won't run out and buy a Flames jersey and put Flames stickers on your car and use the word "we" in association with them (right?). THOSE are marks of a bandwagon fan. But just cheering for a team, with no pretense of ever having followed them before or acting like a know-it-all about them, doesn't make you a bandwagoner. Especially when your team has already been eliminated. Especially in the West, I pick playoff teams every

Not many American people knew about it... I discovered it with a friend during my first week of school... he's like, "They have $4 quesadilas, we have to go!" And it's amazing. Yeah it is a hole in the wall, but the food is so amazing! And the drinks, yummy!
I could see myself buying a Flames jersey, heh. I don't know. I wouldn't mind having a Western team to root for... so maybe I will be a "bandwagoner." My only beef with the term is it blankets people. I mean, if you start liking a team when they're doing well but stick with them when they're doing poorly, technically you started as a bandwagoner but stuck around and that's A-OK.
I wouldn't mind having a Western team to root for...I find that with having Center Ice, it's almost essential to have a group of teams that you follow and like, other than your team. I look at it as the equivalent as Your Team = Your Spouse. Your group of teams you also follow? Your friends. So like, on nights when you don't do something with your spouse, it's okay to hang with your friends, because they're just friends and you love your spouse... like on nights when the Flyers are off, I have a group of teams I watch if they play: LA, St. Louis, Colorado, Montreal, and Minnesota. I'm SORTA friends with San Jose and have a love/hate with Vancouver. Calgary is a new friend of mine... I think I'm actually losing the ability to form coherent sentences, yes? Stupid Avs-Sharks OT

The other night Emer and I were pretty inebriated but I was set on watching the Calgary game. She didn't want to because it "wasn't her team," she just didn't want to watch a game she didn't have a vested interest in. I think having Center Ice would be a problem because I'd probably want to watch EVERY Devils game as well as a TON of other teams... Flames, Wild, Habs, Leafs, Thrashers, etc.
Good article! I think the "pick a side" thing applies to many areas. If you're in Central Jersey, you need to pick Devils or Flyers. Same thing with Chicago with Cubs and White Sox.

Welcome to my world. Center Ice turned me into a loser with no life. All I do is watch hockey. I suck.
So, let me get this straight, since I became a Mets fan when they won the World Series in 1986 and I've never stopped being a fan, does that mean I'm NOT a bandwagon-er any more?
Since I became a Wings fan when I was in college in Michigan during the 1996 Playoffs when the Wings were eliminated by the Avs in the Conference Finals and I'm still a fan now, am I a bandwagon Wings fan?
