Pre-production Day 1: Countdown to the Shoot

Sep 06, 2007 14:59

Today is the 1st day of Howling Moon's official pre-production period. I've done so much already, and it gets more exciting all the time. 4 mos. worth of ruminations, writing, networking, conceiving, and list-making has all come to a head.

Whether or not I get hired for the job I interviewed for last week won't make an impact, because the shoot will still be ensconced within the "two weeks' notice" grace period of the current job. With that in mind (thanks falfax!), I approved the plane ticket for the lead actress, told the producer to start distributing funds as necessary, made contact with several property owners, some props companies, the makeup effects guy (whose resume includes work on The Day After Tomorrow, and Jenna Jameson life-casting!), talked to the camera package guy, and have courted a possible perfect-choice male lead.

Last night I hit upon a rights-free song I needed really badly for a particular sequence (God's Gonna Cut 'em Down - The Golden Gate Quartet). I'd been stressing about it, but then it hit me while on my way over to the weekly role-playing session. It knocked me over and thrilled me through and through with how great that song will work in context, and to be thankful of how accidentally it came about. The lyrics even fit perfectly!

Tonight I give the script its last polish, falfax will start design on the diary pages to be used within the film, I'll start in on the scheduling breakdown, and start making contact with the remaining crew members/smaller role cast members to get some things cemented in place. I'm so excited!
