I am not a fan of Christmas. There, I've said it plainly and out in the open. Firstly, I detest the commercialism of it all. Feeling pressured or obligated to buy gifts for people that you barely talk to the other 364 days of the year, trying to impress or outdo with your gift purchases, quantity, quantity, quantity! Last year, I got this super fancy pen set from one of my aunts who feels that love is proportional to the amount of debt you are in after the holidays. I also got, from a close friend who had no money to spend, a simple card with a beautifully written, thoughtful letter. I'll give you one guess which one I treasure more.
It's all about buying people's love and it irks me that kids know that and use it to their advantage. Spoiled brats seem to come out of the woodwork at Christmas, tantrums abound, and guilt ridden parents rush out to buy that 8th Xbox game on Boxing Day that will stop the bawling. No one even remembers what Christmas is for, which is equally disturbing. It's morphed into a secular holiday rather than the birth of Christ, the foundation of the Christian religion (I'm not religious myself, but if I was, I'd be right peeved).
Ask someone to do a word association with Christmas and you'll get: presents, Santa, snow, tree, shopping, drinking, food.
Stopping now...I DO think too much...I will take your advice and get right ripped. The brain will be turned off for the holidays.
Attagirl. Make sure you have lots of fun, and that better include lots of happy touching with you know who. Hop to it missy, go give her kisses and hugs, life is too short to pass up on cool people who want to make out with you. :)
