Picture:
I'm taking a risk on this one and saying it's going to be Crash. If I'm wrong, it will definitely be Brokeback.
Director:
I think Paul Haggis or George Clooney should win (Good Night and Good Luck is probably going to be completely trampled this year, which is a really big shame) BUT it looks like Ang Lee will take the cake with this one.

Some surprises so far... George Clooney for Best Supporting Actor (Paul Giamatti should have gotten it last year, and it would have been nice if he had gotten it this year, he did a great job in both movies), and I LOVED the little speech the March of the Penguins guys did :)

Hooray for Wallace and Gromit, too! I didn't see the movie (yet), but I *love* the show.

Okay, so my opinion is that the mark of a good actor or actress is if they really make the character their own...right? Like if we look at them now, do we think of them in that role...to me, that makes for a good acting performance. It's so true that when I look at Reese Witherspoon, I think of June Carter...that's why she won. So by that same token, Keira Knightley did deserve to be nominated, because when I look at her now, I think of her as Elizabeth Bennett. And that's a feat, because "Pride and Prejudice" is a classic book...and up until I saw it, I always pictured the actress from the A&E version as Lizzy, but ever since then, I've seen Keira Knightley in that role. I thought she did a great job...she didn't deserve to win, but she did at least deserve to be nominated.

And come on, she actually looked good on Oscar night...unlike some others
