Drabble dump! Some of them I posted at my personal journal a couple of weeks ago, some of them are new. Don't ask why I only used blockquote on the last one, I'm just trying it out :)
Yamada x Yuto // PG, angst // For 50_love quotes, number nineteen; Sometimes, you need to run away to see who will follow.
Yamada feels like those dorama characters that are always chasing after a dream, a moment, or a girl, running and running and never running out of breath and never seeming to stop. He feels like there are thousands of people screaming at him and wondering why he hasn’t caught up yet, if he plans to run forever and never get to where he wants to go. Wherever that is. He feels stupid and hopeless and can’t figure out why he can’t catch up.
Yamada feels like he has been running forever. Running and running and never running out of breath, but back then he didn’t know where he was heading to. Back then, he was pretty sure he was heading nowhere in particular, just running and running and occasionally looking back to see who was following. And Yuto was always there, running after him with smiles and laughter and content with being behind and following, knowing wherever Yamada would lead him would be worth it.
One day, Yamada looked behind, and Yuto wasn’t there. Yamada thought that maybe he’s run out of breath; he stopped to let him catch up. And when Yamada wasn’t looking, Yuto got ahead.
Yamada feels that, since that day, he’s been running after Yuto. Running and running and running to catch up, occasionally stumbling and tripping, occasionally slowing down, but always running towards something he can never seem to catch. And he wonders why running can never seem to be enough.
Yamada feels that soon, he’ll run out of breath and have to stop. And he hopes Yuto will stop and wait for him.
Yamada x Yuto // PG, fluff // Loving boys isn't like loving girls.
It’s weird being a boy in love with a boy; Yamada had been practicing his whole life on how to give sweet compliments and thoughtful gifts, how to sweep her off her feet with his smoothness. Yuto knew he wasn’t really that cool or suave, and while he liked gifts he didn’t really appreciate flowers and cheesy poems. And Yuto usually just hit him when he tried to compliment him.
Being with a boy is more about late night sleepovers watching horror movies, in which Yuto did cling to him like a girl but mostly they laughed because they always chose the really cheesy, fake ones. It’s about playing soccer in the park and gorging themselves on junk food, gagging and making fun of the corny couples trying to hide behind trees. It’s about running around in the rain without a care in the world, and then kissing without shyness or care on one of their beds to warm themselves up afterward. It’s not about shyness or hesitancy or being uncomfortable; it’s a friendship with I love yous (and some really fantastic make out sessions).
And even though Yamada’s kinda glad about that, he is glad that one thing he did prepare for carried over- the hand holding when no one could see, fingers laced together with reassuring squeezes that make him smile goofily.
Yamada x Yuto + Keito // PG, humor //
blahchiharu's prompt: Yamada watching old videos of Yuto and acting like a protective mother... that molests her kid. Based off
this.
“Yuto-kun looks the exact same as he did years ago,” Keito points out as he and Yamada stare intently at the laptop in front of them, watching as a young Nakajima Yuto bickered with Kimutaku and acted cute and bratty enough to capture the hearts of tons of fangirls. Keito had been in the middle of Engine, episode 1, when Yamada had entered the dressing room, completely forgetting what he had come in for in favor of sitting down to watch with him.
Yamada remembers that despite feeling as though they’ve been in the same group forever, he’s only known Keito for a couple of years, and the other wouldn’t have remembered Yuto back when he was the cute little junior guilt tripping all of the senpai into buying McDonald’s for him. “He’s not wearing pink shirts that belong on girls anymore,” he said thoughtfully, ignoring the fact he had been wearing one right next to him, “But yeah, Yuto’s always been… Yuto.” It’s a comforting thought, now that he thinks about it- debuting never went to Yuto’s head, neither did popularity. “…. Just now he’s a little taller.”
Keito snorts his agreement and sighs, looking a little wistful. “I kinda wish I could have been there, I feel left out now.”
The look in Keito’s eyes makes Yamada suddenly wish he could come out and say well I’m glad you weren’t, which wouldn’t have been very nice because he was actually suppose to like Keito, not wish him back to England. But. Keito was hogging Yuto now, he didn’t have to go back in time and hog him then, too! Those were Yamada’s memories, damnit! “Yeah, well, they were pretty fun times,” he said nonchalantly, grabbing the mouse to start clicking through more videos.
“What are you guys laughing at?” Yuto asks when he finally shows up, walking behind them and then blanching at the image on the screen. “You guuuuys, stop! This is embarrassing! Sheesh I can’t believe I asked that…” Yuto groans, trying to reach between them to grab the mouse. Yamada and Keito bat him away, laughing at the cheeky little kid on the screen.
“It’s cute, Yuto-kun,” Keito laughs, flashing him a grin that makes Yuto chuckle sheepishly.
Yamada pouts. My memories! “So, Yuto, did you ever find out what kisses really taste like?”
Yuto looks at him blankly, and then blushes and smiles shyly. “Yeah, like strawberries.”
Hikaru x Taiyou // PG, humor // For
flamingkey, you gave me no prompt so you get something short and lame!
Hikaru prides himself on his performance in Orthros no Inu, if only for the fact he can safely say he makes a much better bad boy than Yabu does. It’s not really that great of an accomplishment, because even Ryutaro could make a better bad boy than Yabu, but it does give him bragging rights for the next couple of months. And the praise and compliments are a nice bonus, too, even if they come more from star struck little juniors than star struck girls. Hikaru is quite happy with himself.
Unfortunately, this all goes down the drain when he decides to watch the first episode with Taiyou.
“Stop that!” he scowls, throwing his pillow at the taller boy and missing by half a foot. Taiyou tries not to laugh and asks what exactly he is suppose to stop doing, making Hikaru scowl even more. “You’re laughing! Stop laughing, damnit, my acting is something to take very seriously!”
Taiyou can’t keep the snort from escaping, and soon he’s falling over in a fit of laughter. “Right, serious. You’re about as serious as Yabu was.”
Hikaru is extremely offended by the comparison, needless to say, and quite literally tackles Taiyou, grabbing the pillow again to whomp him with it. “Don’t insult my genius acting like that!” he shouts, not really meaning the anger and even laughing through it (even if he is still miffed Taiyou would laugh at him.) “You’re suppose to find it hot and sexy and swoon over it, and ask me if we can roleplay in bed.”
Taiyou stares at Hikaru like he’s just hit his head on something, and then snorts again, trying to breathe through his laughter. “Popularity has made you delusional.”
“You better hope you don’t give me self-confidence issues,” Hikaru mumbles, more like a sulky child than anything as he resorts to crossing his arms and pouting in the corner. Taiyou just rolls his eyes and moves closer to comfort his big headed boyfriend.
Yuto x Suzuka // PG, fluff // Yuto's thoughtfulness is often overlooked.
The first gift Yuto gave her was a bright pink stuffed rabbit, with flowers by its ears and the softest fur imaginable. Suzuka somehow manages to hold back the laughter she initially wanted to burst into and smiles and thanks him with a kiss on the cheek, inwardly vowing to ask Yamada-kun to teach Yuto proper gift giving techniques.
It isn’t until later that night, when she’s curling up under the covers of her bed and waiting for that one final email from her secret boyfriend before she falls asleep, that she hugs the rabbit to herself and catches the very familiar scent of his cologne. The silliest smile breaks out on her face as she hugs the silly thing closer, and when she closes her eyes she can almost feel the warmth of his body wrapped around hers. And when that final mail comes, she smiles more at his sweetness and responds back with an I love you, weirdo.
Yuto x Suzuka // PG-13ish? Humor // Suzuka's too hardcore for most of you
“Wow, Yuto, your girlfriend’s hot,” Yamada said with no tact whatsoever, whistling his appreciation at the photo book that was spread across his and Chinen’s desk. Ohgo Suzuka’s first photo book, to be exact, filled with kimono shots (to commemorate her first movie role), fun and happy pictures, and of course a group of gratuitous bikini shots. It was also currently the thing that held the attention of all of the boys in the class, who were all thinking more or less the same thing; who knew ice princess Suzuka could look so great?
Except Yuto. “W-what? Don’t look at that!” he cried, trying to cover it with his hands and failing when Yamada just pushed them out of the way. “Come on guys that’s rude, she’ll come in any second now!” he whined, looking towards the door nervously. If Suzuka came in and saw all the guys fawning over her photos… well, Yuto still firmly believed that the short, cute ones were the scariest ones. That and he didn’t really like having other guys stare at her like that, not when he hadn’t even seen her that unclothed.
When Ohgo Suzuka finally made an appearance in the classroom nearly everyone went silent, eyes fixated on her as she walked in and marched right up to the cluster of boys, eyes cold. Without a word she grabbed the book and smacked each one of them over the head with it before throwing it away, rolling her eyes and mouthing, “perverts.” The boys had the decency to look away in shame, though Yamada was inwardly mourning the loss of the book he had paid good money for.
Yuto nearly jumped a foot in the air when she turned to him, and immediately squeaked, “I wasn’t looking at it, I swear!,” hands thrown up in the air in innocence and everything. He was so dead, which wasn’t fair because he really hadn’t been looking at it!
Scowling at him, Suzuka grabbed his tied and yanked him down to her height forcefully, whispering into his ear, “Don’t worry, I’ll let you see the real thing later.” Yuto nearly fell over in surprise at the smirk on her face as she walked away, quite sure his face had turned the shade of an apple after that.
“You know what, I don’t envy you at all, Yuto,” Yamada grumbled as she sent all of the boy’s death glares, to which Yuto only smiled goofily.
Yuto x Suzuka // PG, humor/fluff // Idols are much prettier in person.
Originally I was going to write a one-shot from Suzuka's point of view that took place before Not as Glamorous as the Dramas, but I ended up with these drabbles instead.
Suzuka is a simple girl. She likes shoujo manga and dramas where the guy gets the girl, and she reads cheesy romance novels that are farfetched but plague her daydreams, anyway.
If anyone were to ask, she’d tell them that her favorite artist is B’z, or Alicia Keys, perhaps, but she actually likes Johnny’s acts quite a lot. She thinks Akanishi Jin is hot and Yamashita Tomohisa can look weird sometimes but it would be really, really awesome to act with him. The juniors are so cute she wishes she had a little brother to make into one. And she really likes Hey! Say! JUMP, with their childishness and talks about dreams and growing up.
If someone were to find out about this and ask her who her favorite member is, she’d probably say that she thinks Takaki Yuya is very cool, or that Okamoto Keito is a cutie. And those are both true. But she doesn’t want to admit that during the performances she records she’s drawn to just one face, and when she listens to their songs she waits and listens for his voice.
Nakajima Yuto, she thinks, might have the nicest smile she’s ever seen, not because of perfect teeth or kissable lips, but because of the way it makes his whole face light up, how happy and carefree it is. In the four years she has watched him, from the time he was just a little boy dancing in pink and glittery costumes to now, when he dances in slightly cooler but still glittery costumes, he hasn’t really changed one bit, and there’s something oddly comforting about that. Suzuka thinks it isn’t possible for a smile to be any brighter. She also thinks he looks like he’d be nice to hug.
When she sees him for the first time in class, three rows over and talking loudly and happily to Yamada-kun, she swallows back the realization that yes, it is possible for his smile to look nicer, up close and in person.
(And that he’s a lot taller in person than she would have thought.)
After the first day of class is over, Suzuka finds herself on the internet instead of doing her homework, looking up information on Nakajima Yuuto that she’s already read before. But it’s different, now that she has the real thing to connect all the information to. It’s like falling into a crush all over again.
But it only takes half an hour before she’s tearing herself away to fling herself onto her bed, face buried into her pillow. “This is pathetic,” she groans, feeling lame for acting like such a stalker. He’d no doubt feel incredibly uncomfortable knowing she knew everything from how tall he is to his favorite color.
Plus… nothing ever does the real thing justice. The pictures don’t show just how nice his smile is, or how adorable he looks when he’s embarrassed and flustered. Songs don’t live up to the cute, boyish quality of his voice, and dramas don’t send chills down her spine the same way his laughter in the classroom does. Suzuka can realize it now, that everything before this was admiration- now was when the actual crushing part came in.
And it sucks, because all of those stupid rules ensure she can never do anything about it!
So Suzuka has to content herself to daydreams, fantasies about a world where she wasn’t some teenage actress and he wasn’t an idol, where they could run around the streets and hold hands without a care. They’d go on ice cream dates and trips to the beach, where he’d ogle her in her swimsuit and she’d pretend to get mad but secretly kinda like it a lot and maybe getting a bit hot at his admiring eyes on her body. And she could admire his body, too, hot from the afternoon sun and then wet from playing in the water, and, well, a little friendly romp in the sand never hurt anyone, right?
Okay, so maybe daydreams aren’t a good idea, she thinks the next morning when she is shocked awake after some very… interesting dreams. Dreams that only made her want Yuto more and damnit, this resistance thing wasn’t going to work very well at this rate.
“I’m not sure asking to borrow a pencil is enough to go on to tell whether or not he likes you,” an exasperated Suzuka tried to get her friend to realize, eyes on the rows of books in front of her as she searched for the number that would match the one written on the card the librarian had given her. “You sit next to him, he probably just asked the closest person around.”
Rima pouted prettily and shook his head quickly. “Suzuka-chan!” she groaned, “Stop being so negative, you’re getting me down. In my mind, Irie is in love with me and will never give back my pencil because he wants to cherish it forever.” Suzuka thinks inwardly that Rima must read more shoujo manga than she does, because even she doesn’t have such wild, nonsensical thoughts.
Suzuka just rolls her eyes and ignores Rima as she continues to look for the number, sighing when she realizes it’s on the top shelf. Great. “Rima-chan, I’m trying to be sympathetic, but,” she grunts as she attempts to stretch her five foot one body out enough to reach the needed book, hand waving pathetically in its direction, “It’s not that big of a deal. Can you reach this, it’s too high for me.” Rima snorts and shakes her head. Suzuka sighs. “Great, how am I going to-”
Suzuka nearly jumps out of her own skin when an arm reaches from behind her to grab the requested book. Turning quickly, Suzuka’s heart skips a beat as she finds herself looking up into the smiling face of Nakajima Yuto, who is about 8 inches taller than her and quite capable of reaching the top shelf on his own. His smile’s so bright, she thinks in a daze, and if life were a shoujo manga there would be sparkles and flowers surrounding him right about now. “Here you go,” he says in that typically happy way of his, handing the book out to her. Suzuka looks at it as if it might bite her and then grabs it from his hand, mumbles a thanks, and darts off before anyone can say anything to her, praying that the redness in her cheeks isn’t as obvious as she feels it is.
“Suzuka-chan!” Rima calls out after her, looking highly annoyed as well as curious as they hide behind another bookcase. “What was that about? If it was Yamada-kun I’d understand but Nakajima-kun was just being nice-” She pauses suddenly, leaning in close, and Suzuka becomes acutely aware of the fact that yes, the redness in her cheeks is quite obvious, and that Rima has definitely noticed them, if the smirk on her lips is proof of that. “Aah… Nakajima-kun is pretty cute, ne?”
“S-shut up!” Suzuka shouts, ignoring the withering glares everyone gives her as she tries to hide behind her book.
(Yuto, meanwhile, is looking quite aghast and disheartened, as Yamada snorts in the background, “wow, what did you do to her?” Yuto wonders the same thing.)
