Wammy's Caretakers

Aug 23, 2010 23:53

I suppose I should introduce the caretakers at Wammy's house now that I've introduced the children. Maybe it'll get me to actually write someting as well XP There may be a few more caretakers popping in and out wih more part-time jobs, but these are the ones who are around most of the time. They've got pretty full-time jobs and have been hand-chosen by Wammy for their abilities. They also each have letters, because I figured that in order to be raising and teaching the potential successors of L, they'd be part of the whole crew.

Roger, aka R, is supposedly the second-in-command to Wammy. However, as Wammy is busy taking care of L and therefore almost never visits the orphanage, he has essentially charged it to Roger to run the orphanage. Roger helped Wammy's project in the first place out of loyalty to his dear friend, and feels that he is in over his head. Therefore, he is constantly tired, stressed, or generally haggard. He is in charge of all of the administrative work at Wammy's, as well as communications between L (and Wammy) and the orphanage, and it is his job to carefully track the progress of the orphans to help L's decision. He is also in charge of finding and usually recruiting new genius orphans. He often finds himself too busy and weary to give the orphans the attention he'd like to. He is glad that he gets to know them through the one class he teaches, Criminology/crime solving lab, where he helps to hone the children's detective skills and keeps an eye on who progresses the most.

Jocelyn, aka J, is technically Roger's assistant, but with Wammy always out she's left as second-in-command. She assists Roger with some of the administrative side of things, but for the most part she's in charge of the orphans themselves. She takes care of new orphans for the first month as they adjust to Wammy's House, and she privately tutors those who don't originally speak English. She is a stickler for the rules and is in charge of graver charges and punishments for the students, causing many of the children to dislike her. She also teaches the general English literature and grammar class, as well as Hindi language lessons.

Alonzo, aka O, teaches physical education and martial arts, as well as Mandarin language lessons. He is tough but friendly, and likes anyone who tries regardless of their physical abilities. He believes hard work is the most important attribute. His teaching styles are similar in his language lessons, though after only a few lessons he insists on speaking only Mandarin to the students, even in his PE lessons (because he speaks the languages of the origin coutnries of the martial arts in those classes).

Irene, aka I,

Garret, aka G, is a bumbling, stuttery teacher. He seems particularly incompetent at times, and oftentimes the students and even the other caretakers begin to question why it is he's teaching in an establishment for geniuses. However, he has quite a store of knowledge, and he never fails to impress when he pulls out something new. He may seem inattentive as a teacher but the students do learn. His subject is history, which he has a real passion for. He also teaches Arabic language lessons.

Loretta, aka T,

To give you an idea of what on Earth is going on with Alonzo, Irene, Garret, and Loretta, here are the groups of Wammy's kids. They don't spend all of their time in these groups, but this is how field trips are typically split up, and this is how children are assigned to caretakers- they each have two caretakers, though Alonzo and Garret have more charge over the boys and Irene and Loretta have more charge over the girls.
