Wammy's Kids
I've been doing more OCD planning for ToaFT, and I've come to realize I need to do brief descriptions for each character before I go further. Therefore, I shall ramble into this journal entry. These will be the characters there for the predominant time that the canon Wammy's boys are there. I'm going to do it in order of rank, despite the fact that my inner Mello is dying a little on the inside by putting Near first. Please keep in mind that the children have chosen their own names, as choosing Backup for Beyond Birthday obviously didn't do much good. Birth years are based on the manga and mentioned because ages will vary depending on the story.
Near is male, born in 1991. He's highly logical and intelligent. Many people mistake him for emotionless and against social interaction, but he's just not very good with social situations. He spends most of his time alone with his toys, which help him to study. He looks and dresses like Near, you all know the deal.
Mello is male, born in 1989. He is all about attracting attention and being the best of the best, but on the inside he's rather insecure- but he'll never let anyone know. He has a knack for getting into trouble and doesn't take kindly to rules and authority, much to the dismay of his caretakers. Y'all know what he looks like. He dresses all black here, no rosary and no leather because it's before the crap goes down.
Matt is male, born in 1990. If it's electronic, he knows it. He's laid back and seems like he doesn't care about much. In fact, he doesn't put much effort into anything except his gaming and computer projects. He tends to be antisocial, and most people assume that he just doesn't care about talking to anyone, which is partially true; however, he also has a secret fear of people and conversations, which makes socializing rather difficult. He tends to wear tee-shirts and baggy pants, though he also always wears a pair of goggles with orange lenses.
Owl is male, born in 1987. He loves to cook, and spends as much time as he is allowed in the kitchen cooking new concoctions or forcing them on unsuspecting Wammy's House residents. Because of his fondness for cooking, he is also rather talented in chemistry. His dream is to be head chef in a kitchen, and at times he attempts to coerce the other children into forming a pretend kitchen. He's forceful and a little insane. He's short and skinny with brown hair that tends to stick up at strange angles. He refuses to wear long sleeves and is often seen wearing an apron.
Opal is female, born in 1991. She has astute powers of observation and detail almost unparalleled at the home, but she has short-term memory loss issues, so if she doesn't note something down immediately or repeat it about fifty times she will most likely forget it. She's rather naive and trusting, so she's easily taken advantage of. If she were to realize this, she wouldn't really mind because she spends most of her time daydreaming anyways. She's rather small with long dark brown hair, and she mostly wears long flowy skirts in various colors.
Judith is female, born in 1985. Some people have attempted to give her the nickname 'Judy,' but she frowns upon it. She is well-read, well-versed, and has impeccable grammar skills. As the eldest of the Wammy's students, she often looks down at the shenanigans of the younger ones, and prefers to spend her time alone with her nose in a book. When she's not reading (and even sometimes when she is), she is constantly writing, and she has dozens of notebooks filled from cover to cover with what she's written- however, she doesn't let people touch them. She has black hair that she keeps back in a low ponytail and she wears glasses.
Pascal is male, born in 1994. He excels in mathematics and loves anything to do with numbers. He's a rather odd child, speaks strangely and is rather loud and social despite the fact that he doesn't seem to understand most social conventions. He goes through phases where he speaks in numbers instead of words. He is oen of those kids who you know is going to shoot up like a bean stalk and be all bony arms and legs once he hits puberty. He has a bowl cut and wears oddly round glasses.
Aeries is male, born in 1986. He is an expert in weaponry, of all ages, though he is particularly interested in the mideval period. As a result, he is quite a fan of any history involving wars. He attempts to collect weapons as much as possible, though he has been put on a strict watch with allotted supervised times when he can take them out and use them. He fancies himself the head kid of Wammy's despite the fact that he's only #8, but he takes this more as a roll of responsibility and brotherhood towards the younger kids than as a bullying dictatorship. He is short and stalky with a buzz cut and blue eyes, and he typically wears cargo pants.
Rain is male, born in 1986. He's a talker, a schmoozer, full of charm and charisma, though he typically doesn't use this for nefarious purposes. He knows pretty much every card came known to man and will always have a deck of cards on him with which he will usually either play a form of Solitaire or just shuffle fancily. He has also tried a few collector's card games and he enjoys them, but traditional cards will always be his favorite. He has light hair and light eyes, and likes dressing in plain-colored button-up shirts and jeans.
Linda is female, born in 1991. She's an artist, and always sees the world through a creative lens. She always appears cheerful and sunny but often takes criticizms very harshly, and doesn't have much faith in herself. She does her best to help people as much as she can, and she loves to see other people smile. When she does artwork of people she tries to make them look as candid as possible but will more often than not put a smile on their face. She has light reddish-brown hair that she often wears in pigtails and brown eyes. She likes to wear pastels and prefers to wear floral print sundresses.
Ever is female, born in 1995. She loves mechanics and machines almost more than she loves people. She loves tinkering with things, particularly clocks. She will often be seen talking to machines, particularly ones she is trying to fix, and has nicknamed every mechanical object she has come to own, which is quite an amount. She likes collecting old pieces of things such as old gears and trying to put them together into new projects. Seeing a machine torn apart or seeing parts thrown away saddens her greatly. She has shoulder-length black hair and she'll wear whatever fits.
Chloe is female, born in 1992. She is bold, outspoken, and somewhat bossy. She is a bit of a know-it-all, which doesn't work too well for her at an orphanage for geniuses, many of which are much smarter than her. Her stubbornness, however, refuses to let her acknowledge the sheer number of corrections the other students give her. She has nearly unstoppable determination and is completely and utterly messy and disorganized, earning her the nickname Chloe Cyclone. She is one of two twins, with frizzy red hair and bright green eyes, and she wears mostly foresty colors.
Maud is male, born in 1992. He is quiet, timid, and shy, and he'll usually just go along with whatever Chloe wants him to do just to keep on her good side. He has neatness OCD, which obviously clashes with his sister's tendancy towards clutter- he can't function without a neat and orderly environment. He is as diligent as his sister, though not as annoyingly persistant and outspoken. He is the other twin, also a redhead with a spattering of freckles and green eyes hidden behind glasses which he doesn't really need, and he dresses in whatever Chloe tells him to wear.
Jin is male, born in 1989. He is an expert in mythology, and if you find something he doesn't know yet, he'll immediately go look it up in great detail to expand his knowlege. He references various mythologies with most of his speech, which irritates the other Wammy's students at times, as well as his habits as a tattletale. He is a real stickler for the rules, despite his seeming mischief-seeking name, coming from 'djinn' or demon. He has short black hair and dresses comfortably.
Belle is female, born in 1987. She is a musician, adept at playing many instruments, though she favors the piano. She can also sing quite well, though she doesn't like to much. She's warm, friendly, social, and sometimes obnoxious in her cheeriness. She treats all of the Wammy's girls as her sisters, though she is particularly feminist and thus harbors some resentment towards the boys at times. She's tall, big, and blonde with blue eyes, and she dresses in bright colors.
Shira is female, born in 1992. She always needs something for her hands to do in order to be able to properly concentrate, so she has taken up origami folding, which she is very skilled at. She's one of those 'quiet ones' that everyone always warns people about- she's quiet, but not so much shy, and doesn't always have the purest of intentions. She's always looking for a good bit of fun, which usually comes in the form of trouble. She has curly brown hair which she straightens when she gets older and tends to dress in jeans and muted colors.
Basil is female, born in 1989. She's a master of textile and fabric arts. She loves fashion, costumes, curtains, furniture coverings- anything to do with cloth, she adores. She is very talkative and always loves to have someone to talk to. She's one of those people who will talk over an entire movie or TV show commenting on various things, usually what the people are wearing. Quiet hour is a rather difficult time for her. Her hair is brown and she typically keeps it short, though she'll often change the style, and as she gets older she likes to throw in streaks. She dresses differently at different occasions, though she always makes an ordeal out of her outfits, and thus usually stands out in a crowd.
Poppy is female, born in 1995. She loves plants, particularly flowers, and is an expert on flower meanings. She likes to spend most of her time in the gardens and prefers to sit by the windows in school to absorb the sunlight. Her mood fluctuates along with the weather- if it's sunny, she'll be cheerful and happy; if it's cloudy, she'll be gloomy and pessimistic; if it's raining, she'll be cheerful all over again, particularly if she manages to escape into the rain. She has sandy-tan hair and bright blue eyes, and she likes to dress in dresses and sunny colors.
Zayin is male, born in 1988. He is a linguist, fascinated with languages and good at picking up new ones. He tries to encourage the other kids to practice their languages more often by speaking the one they're learning, but more often than not receives an answer back in English. He is diligent, hardworking, and tries to keep a positive attitude at all times. He tries to set a good role model for the younger children, though he doesn't quite realize that they're not really paying any attention to the model he is setting. He has light brown hair and amber eyes, and he likes to dress in sweaters (despite mocking) and jeans.
Indigo is female, born in 1992. She has a knack for building and carpentry, and can't get enough of it- she even got permission to set up a shop at Wammy's House (provided she spend her allowance money on tools and supplies unless making a commission for the house) where she builds all sorts of contraptions. She spends more time in the shop than she does doing homework, much to the dismay of the caretakers. She is always trying to make devices to make people's lives easier, though they usually do not work properly. She does build her own perfectly functional furniture, however, and refuses to use the furniture provided for her. Most people call her Indy, and she is rather fond of this nickname. Her hair is a nondescript color, her eyes usually hidden behind safety goggles, and she chooses all of her clothing from the boy's department.
