Top 50 Favorite Books: Books 33 - 31

Jul 31, 2013 16:45

I'm a little tired of commenting on all my favorite books, but I will finish writing the list, commenting on what books I choose to!

33. The Green Mile - Stephen King
The movie is probably better, however the idea for it came from this book. The particularly horrible execution is just as gruesome in the book, I think. When I first watched the movie, before I ever read the book, that scene made me want to vomit. It took me 20 minutes before I decided to finish watching the rest of the movie! When I read the scene in the book, it had similar effects!

32. Catcher In The Rye - J.D. Salinger
I'd love to comment on it, but I don't remember enough of it! People say it is similar to The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, but I find that to be an insult! This book is far more interesting and has more depth in it's overall message. I realize I don't even have The Bell Jar on this list. I've read it twice and it's highly disturbing. I kind of get the message it is trying to portray, and it is scary -- I just can't imagine going that insane and sinking into that deep of a depression.

That makes Catcher In The Rye, if not more realistic, more relatable to me, even though the main character is a boy. It doesn't matter -- Adrian Monk is my Twin Soul, whether male or female. He is male and that is one of the only differences between him and I. It's a physical, superficial difference -- of which, there are many others, besides the obvious. I mean, I don't look like him. The only similarity, would be our height, although, I may be an inch taller than him.

Okay, so I diverge (can't really change my name here, it suits me too well! I will find ways to talk about "Monk" in subjects that don't seem to relate at all! It's like 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon -- of which, by the way, I am connected by four! How? A relative of mine, was in a silent film and therefore, being an actress, can be traced to Kevin Bacon! I actually looked this up on the internet! And now, I diverge a lot further. Anyways... .)

31. The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain
A favorite of my husband's, as well, and is the main reason I read it!

[Okay, so far I had a comment for all these books. I may be able to make at least some kind of comment on all of them, though do not have the patience, time, energy and desire to go into more detail/depth. To do that, I would actually have to re-read, each individual book. I'm sure I will re-read several of them, all in good time/basically, when I feel like it!]
