34. White Oleander - Janet Fitch
I can't relate to the whole foster-home thing and being shuffled around from house to house. However, she finds that she has to break away from her Mom because her Mom is a toxic person. I've found the same thing out in my life, though my Mom hasn't done anything as extremely bad as this girl's Mom! She's just a very mean person! Anyways, the different kinds of people she meets on her journey are interesting because they are all so different! Her first foster family, is a woman who claims to be Christian, but is such a hypocrite about it. Her daughter is a typical, rebellious teen. The mom's boyfriend and the main character, start to like each other, which is gross because this girl is supposed to be about 14!

Her next family is a lady who's a very sweet, but insecure, aspiring actress, who's husband is often gone.

The third family, is a Russian lady who makes all the girls in her care, sell their clothes and other things.

I may have been wrong on the order of these families and/or may have missed one. Please correct me, if so!

She also has a love interest, a boy close to her own age.

Now, the reason her Mom is toxic, is because she poisoned her boyfriend with White Oleanders, and simply does not give a f*** and is in jail for that reason. To be specific, I meant the Mom's boyfriend.

Her daughter seems to forgive her for this, but there are other reasons why she starts to detach herself from her Mom. She doesn't want to be like her, for one.

Quick little story, before I move on: I know I keep talking about the movies that were made from all these books. But, I met the actor who played the "Christian" Mom's boyfriend! I actually didn't know who he was at first, except for that he was an actor and I recognized him from something!

I've been meaning to write about these books, 10 at a time, but as I go through the list, the books are ones that I like even more and therefore, remember even more. So, now I'm out of time to write about any more, but I will continue with this list when I can!
