I was listening to my beloved WFUV the other night, and I heard David Dye say, "Tom Waits," so naturally I cranked the volume up past a safe level to listen. Turns out the guest was Jesca Hoop, who was a nanny for Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, and she's got some pretty good-sounding songs of her own now. I am beginning to see that I enjoyed music better when I knew less. I traveled back in time to 1979 in Monday's strip to show just what my life was like as a child. It was a good time, cranking up the K-tel on my phonograph, wearing my underwear and frolicking among the wildlife.
