To break the news, if I haven't already, I have my first audition in 7 years on May 20th. This will be for Village Theater's upcoming season, in which they will be doing Evita, Bye Bye Birdie, The Who's Tommy and a drama about C.S. Lewis called Shadowlands.
Leetle beet nervous. Not too much. I'm confident, it's just the little shock of adrenaline I get when I do this kind of thing. It's why I do it ;)
Anyhoo, a monologue and 16x2 bars, two different genres. I thought I had my music picked out...I was wrong.
I made the "mistake" of purchasing the sound track to Monty Python's Spamalot, and damned if Eric Idle didn't manage to (at least, vicariously) compose the most perfect audition song ever. So this requires that I purchase the sheet music and perform it at my audition.
After tracking it down on Amazon to insure it was available, I then called two Eastside music stores to make sure it was in stock and have it held, but neither had it. The first had never heard of it (imagine the shock), and the second was helpful enough in tracking down ordering information, but it was not readily available for purchase (and I distinctly heard snickering in the background).
Curses.
I'll have to order it all the same. It truly is a perfect audition song in regards to range and technical composition. But this is a lifelong theme of mine, finding utterly ridiculous songs obsessively endearing.
Anyhoo, I feel like a burger. And I have class. More Later.
