Update? Yes?

I’m kinda annoyed this morning because a woman in my office got on my nerves. See, my friend Gloria and I had decided to put together a dinner tonight for all of the Assistants in our office because we don’t know many people so we thought it would be a nice welcome dinner for everyone. I sent out the email and I guess organized the entire thing, but then was reminded last night by Josh that we already had plans with his coworker for the same time. This morning I sent out an email apologizing to everyone attending, admitting that I was lame but that I had a previous engagement. I wasn’t cancelling the event, though, and wanted everyone to go out and have a good time without me. Gloria replied with a smart-ass-tic email, but I had warned her last night about my predicament and I knew she understood. This woman in the legal department replied to everyone, saying the only reason why she was going was to meet me, and since I’m no longer attending, she isn’t, either. She didn’t know who I was or what I looked like (even though I was introduced to her on occasion), so when she passed by Karen (my boss), she mentioned to Karen, in front of me, that I was the reason why her plans were ruined! She basically humiliated me in front of Karen! Now, I know Karen doesn’t think poorly of me, because that’s just not who Karen is, and I explained to her my reasoning, but still...I don’t appreciate a complete stranger, with whom I’ve never worked directly, to tell my boss that I’m not reliable. So I emailed this woman, apologizing for disappointing her, but asking her to attend the dinner anyway. She refused, saying, instead, she’ll just go home and spend the time with her kids. My God! Honestly...how old are we?

Whatev.

On Wednesday night I went out to dinner with Karen and the other women in my department. We went to this DELICIOUS French restaurant in Eagle Rock (which is right next to Glendale). It was pretty pricey, but hey, I wasn’t paying! We started off with a round of bubbling champagne, followed by a bottle of wine and ending with a shot of cognac. I had the best halibut I’ve ever tasted, coupled with creamy mashed potatoes and a spinach soufflé. For dessert, the four of us shared crème brule, chocolate mousse and a piece of apple tart. Mmmmmm… It was a good time and we pretty much closed the place. Andrea was afraid I was drunk when I drove home, but I had a lot in my stomach and I kept downing water and eating bread. I was even told that I held my liquor pretty well! Of course I got lost driving home, pretty much in my own neighborhood, but it’s because it was dark and I wasn’t completely familiar with the area. Turned out I was just about 2 blocks away from my apartment when I took a wrong turn! Haha

I’m not sure if I mentioned it, but I joined a gym. I despise gyms, but I know that I need to start working out on a more constant basis so I sucked it up and joined the gym down the street from work. Gloria had joined it before me, and she said that she spoke with the manager and he said that I could get the same deal that she received. So instead of paying $39/mo, I’m only paying $25! Not bad if you ask me. They’re redoing the place, so I think they’re trying to get as many people in as possible. My only issue is that there’s more weights than there is cardio machines, and Gloria has already acquired two unwanted personal trainers in the weights area. Ha. Oh well...at least I’m going with a friend so I have someone to kick my butt into gear. I was even thinking about signing up for one or two personal training sessions, too. I gotta get rid of my back fat before my wedding!!!

Well, I should probably get back to work. Fridays tend to drag, so I’m going to do my best to find fun and interesting things to work on (but not really…because those don’t exist). I hope you all have a great weekend!
