Struggling with web design's new tendencies

I'm so behind!
When I started playing with HTML and websites at the age of 13 I use to learn things so fast! I used a Mac and my dream was to have a PC so I could write all the HTML codes using something as FrontPage. But I didn't have that, so what I knew was to write ALL code using a plain notepad.

Believe me, I was good at it! I had a few silly sites and managed them all by myself; they had a nice look too. Of couse I was far from professional and have never been until around 16 years old when I suddenly stopped all that.
But I'm still proud of the websites I created myself. I even tried Flash - when Flash websites were on top -, but it was too much for me to learn by myself.

From that time on, the only thing left was some randomly and very seldomly updated blog I still have today. It's been up since 2002. http://oaragornehlindo.blogspot.com. It's in Portuguese. It must have like 3 or 4 posts in English, though.

Nowadays, I'm 21 and realized that the world of web design and web developping has changed so much that I'm totaly out of place. I decided it's something I want to do again. I should have never stopped.
It's something I still like, I can feel that, and probably would like to work on that rather than on International Relations - the object of my current graduation. But I need to take like a real course because I give up too easily when I try to learn by myself and things don't go as planned. Yes, stupid me, I give up easily.

I'm in the process - when I can remember - of searching for a nice HTML and CSS editor. I can't write all HTML by myself and keep up-to-date with this new world of web design. It's impossible to do a nice thing without the help, at least, of a decent editor - and by that, I don't mean FrontPage anymore.
I NEED to learn CSS as well, because it's such a basic thing nowadays - and it wasn't when I started -  and I don't know it at all. It's a strange feeling to know I'm already obsolete at the age of 21!

I realized that when I decided to change my blog layout for the 8th time in 6 past. Acknwoledging how Blogger is now different from the time I remembered it, I just realized that I don't know those codes anymore! I'm OBSOLETE!

It's my 2008 life project - to get back to web design.

internet, webdesign
