Today was slow at work but hectic for me. I emailed my realtor Art yesterday to set up an appointment for tomorrow to see a couple of houses. Well Art decided to drive passed one of them this morning since it was near his house and he called me right afterward saying we had to come see it today because we'd love it and it prolly would get scooped up right away (as been our luck). So Ed went during his lunch hour and liked it so I took a break during work and ran over there for about 20mins. Edit Here is
a link to the house. The pictures are tiny and really dark, but if you turn the brightness all the way up on your monitor you can see them okay. #15 doesn't show up at all. /Edit It has all hardwood floors, a big front porch (nice, but you can't see it in the photos), 4 sides brick, built in bookcases and other old style features that you just don't see in new houses. There are windows every where, which I love. It has a detached garage with a storage shed. The fireplace is gorgeous. It does need updating but the house is sound. Unfortunately it doesn't have central AC/heat or a dishwasher but we can add that later ourselves. The dishwasher will be quite easy actually. The house is centrally located in a nice established neighborhood. It's only five miles for either of us to get to work (in opposite directions). Since I knew Ed really liked the house and I prolly would too, I asked Art to bring a blank contract with him so we could put a bid on the house and fax it to him. Another person put in a bid this evening but the realtor is going to present both of them in the morning.
After that I had to run back to work to close out the day drawer for shift change and wait for Steve to get there (he showed up in a kilt, freak). Why is it that when I'm not in a hurry Steve or Mo show up early but when I have to get out quick because I have things to do they show up late. Every time.
When I got home I filled out the contract as best I could and waited...and waited...and waited for Ed to get home. Of course when he's trying to get out early a customer shows up late and he has to stick around. As soon as he got home he filled out his part, signed his name every where, we faxed it to Art, hopped on the bikes and headed to NIOSA to meet
kastastrophe. I called her as soon as we got there but it still took us 25min to find her and Rob because we went the long way around plus it was crowded which made getting anywhere difficult. I can't imagine how packed it's going to be on Thursday (college night). Finally we found them at the Arneson River theatre watching a honky tonk band. It was really cool to meet her. She's a great chick and Rob is cool and funny. She brought Ed and me goodies! We got a coffee mug with a cow on it that reads "Moo Jersey" heh heh, an Oscar the Grouch baseball cap (I think I'll wear it tomorrow) and a little purse with an M on it. She even brought chewies from Omaha Steaks for the dogs! If any of my other LJ friends want to come visit you'll have to bring goodies too. :D
Okay so back to NIOSA. We walked around quite a bit. It was really crowded. We hung out in the Irish section and watched a jig band who were wearing kilts. Maybe Steve is a groupie? I ate potato skins and Ed had green beer. Next we headed through the French Quarter where Karen had a really bad Portabello mushroom pastry thingey and ended up throwing it away. We walked through Frontier Town and Ed wanted to get breaded calf testicles. Ugh. No way. Looking back I should have let him get them and at least put something into his stomach. I called Mo to see where he and his gang were and he came and met us. Apparently he lost his mom in the first 10min they were there and he went searching for her with no luck. We hung out with them for a bit. I had a tastey Fat Bread, Karen got a fried Cheesecake, Rob had a giant pretzel and Ed had more beer. Ed was getting a little loose after all the beers since he wasn't eating anything and was just getting loud and goofy. We decided to head to the German Town and on the way there we saw some guy passed out (or possibly dead) on the ground with cops all around him. The EMTs came and they were checking his pulse but we didn't stick around to see what happened next. We wound down the evening in the German Hall, watching others doing polkas and the Famous Chicken Dance, which they seemed to play every fifteen minutes. We took a couple of pictures together, some silly. Ed spilled beer in Karen's ass crack. He was tipsy, she was not amused. lol. All in all, a great time. We might see them some time during the week for dinner, they might come to Sam's for lunch tomorrow or Thursday. I really hope she's enjoying San Antonio. Next time they come, we'll have a house and they can stay with us.
Speaking of house, I guess we'll find out tomoorow if we win the bid. I'm not going to get my hopes up because we've been through this before and I've ended up disappointed.
