They took 10 vials of blood, at least 16 tests. I was all loopy afterward. Started on cancer drugs today. CellCept (Mycophenolate Mofetil). Half dose (500mg/day) for 2 weeks to see how I react to them. It is actually a drug that organ transplant patients use to prevent rejection. It's a immunosuppressant, which means I am now susceptible to all ( Read more... )

Prednisone sucks. I've been up and down on the dose since mid December. It has such horrible side effects. I gained 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks I was on it. I was told I would gain weight, but I haven't gained anymore. Other women I've talked to gained 50-100lbs. All I drink is water now, and I eat much healthier. It killed all my joints, muscles and cartilage. I was also in a car accident in November and injured my back and basically sprained my entire left side and wasn't allowed to lift more than 10lbs after that so I could work out when I first started the steroid. My doc says I can now. That's good. I hate being to heavy. It gave my Cushing Syndrome so all the weight is in my upper body (moon face and huge boobs, you'd think that was good. It's not.).

Why is your mom on Prednisone?

My mom was on it because she has some disease or whatever you wanna call it. Its Ulcerative Colitis(dont quote me on the spelling) where her colon is all inflammed. She spent a lot of time in the hospital when she was first diagnosed, so between that and being on the prednisone she gained quie a bit. She still has flare ups all the time where it starts bleeding and stuff, but she refuses to go back on the steroid. She would rather sit in pain than go back to it. I dont know if I blame her. It is not fun.
Sorry to hear about your car accident. I hate cars, and I wish i did not HAVE to drive. I was in an accident in july, but I didnt get hurt as bad as you :( I broke my arm and some bad cuts and was bruised for a month, but I could still function. I couldnt even imagine spraining an entire side of me. How did you move ?
:-P
Ive just learned through life to take one day at a time, thats about all you can do. Talk to you soon

What a nerve racking pain in the ass. Antibacterial wipes will be your new best friend at work, I bet. Make all those grimy bastards put on a mask and gloves before they come for their picture! I do hope this all goes smoothly for you.

People are going to think you're all freaked out with OCD! You could really play it up and have fun with it. Maybe not the most professional thing to do though. =)
