Ugh. I'm forcing myself to type this... 'cause even though I want to... I'm really fuggin' sleepy.

You cannot connect the dots of having privileges, advantages, money all coming from the sweat, blood, land, lives of indigenous/black/Asian peoples. And even when you can, "That was then and this is now"... No, for those of us who "then and now" happened to viscerally. That is now and everything you have done in the past (the collective you-white people) will need to be shifted or destroyed in order for equality to exist. You're not going to get to equality through tepid free markets or "undefined" opportunity.. there will have to be a definite balance and shifting of wealth, opportunity and rebuilding after destroying the networks in place. Otherwise, you don't want equality. You just want us to stop talking about.

I don't agree with everything Mugabe has done, but with regard to trying to shifting power from the minority, to the majority, that's one of the first steps of equality. If you can't even begin to understand this. Then you don't want equality, you want POC's acquiescence so that you can continue to live a comfortable life.

That's a partial quote from busted_english in response to this answer in this post in debunkingwhite. Yea. Where it's from isn't all that important to me, I just feel it necessary to give credit and acknowledgment.

Anywho, I'm quoting it 'cause I've been having trouble with the fact that I agree with it so whole-heartedly. People of color have done a lot in this country in an attempt to reach equality but haven't reached that goal yet and I'm stuck holding on to the belief that that is the case because the system is intrinsically designed for that to be the case. So... what's to be done then? Do we strip the current beneficiaries of racist oppression of what they have and redistribute it as we see fit? As much of a whatever-it-may-take revolutionary I sometimes feel like being... I don't know if I could stomach that. A quick retort from someone with a harder heart would be, "well, their white privilege safety net will protect them," but not every Caucasian in America is a Rockefeller or a Trump. Hell, many if not most have as hard a time making ends meet as most people of color. Ain't nobody with a net waitin' to catch them. So either we throw the baby out with the bathwater or sit and stew in the land of inequality. Ain't that a bitch?

LOS ANGELES, March 13 (Reuters) - Warner Bros. has conjured up some Hollywood magic for the final installment of the wildly popular "Harry Potter" movies, splitting the seventh and final book into two films, the movie studio said on Thursday.

Part one of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will debut in late 2010 and be followed months later by part two.

"We feel that the best way to do the book, and its many fans, justice is to expand the screen adaptation of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and release the film in two parts," Jeff Robinov, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said in a statement.

Yes, it's from the 13th. I caught it late. Whtvr. That is pure and utter shite. "Best way to do the book, and its many fans, justice" my ass. It's the best way to slow up shipping their cash cow to the meat packing plant and prolong the end of the series. Why the hell else would it even take that long for the first part to come out? The Half-Blood Prince comes out this summer. So they're just going to say "fuck 2009?" Niiiiice.

Yea... I think that's it. I'm going to type something about weight and body image... tomorrow? Probably.

I'm mad that I'm goin' to bed kind of late today, but I have a new ID and birth certificate coming to me by mail, so I guess it was worth it. I'm also kind of mad those two documents cost me damn near $30 too. I was going to go for the hat trick and put in for my passport this week, but I think I'll hold on to that $100 and pay my rent... or buy a Blackberry or something.
