I was going to write a proper review of Home Fires IV, but I have several posts waiting to be finished, and if we wait for them to be finished, they never will be, so here are some bite-sized reviews of the bands I saw. If you want to know more, I'd suggest following the links and checking out the music yourselves (apologies in advance for linking ( Read more... )

I saw a few songs of Adjagas at the Paradis Gardens thing and being a closet folkie I thought them rather good. I also like Finntroll, who are *sort of* a metal version...

Yeah, I read about Adjagas in the Paradise Gardens programme and was a bit annoyed I'd missed them. You would've liked Tunng; you should have stayed for them!

Nice summary ! It was a pleasure to be accompanied by you.
If you remember, that was the last performance of Barbarossa's stripped down gorgeousness and the next gig will feature the new band line up.
Want to come to that?

I liked St Vincent more than the other new to me acts, and probably a close run thing with Nina Nastassia. I was looking forward very much to Adjagas who did not disappoint. Loverly stuff.

You missed the first two acts, of course you did not miss much as far as my opinion goes. I kind of regret not being able to see Day 2, but then Sparklehorse did a wonderfully beautiful chilled out set (to the annoyance of some of the SBE "RAWK" crowd, who had a point, but not a big one).
