So TIL…

We had a sliding closet door here that for years has been difficult to operate. I assumed it was due to stuff against it, inside, or maybe it was just not made well. Today I went to look at it more closely, and, other than two screws being loose on one of the hangers and one loose on the floor guide, nothing else seemed wrong. Yet it still dragged and was hard to slide.

I thought maybe the roller mechanism (hanger) needed to move lower to bring up the door, but couldn’t see in the dark, at the high angle, in the cramped space, if there was a slot to allow movement. I considered taking the door down, a complicated task, but that seemed foolish. So, I took a picture…

Durrrr… all fixed in a matter of minutes.

My lump-sum rollover payout is an ongoing… challenge. I received a check for the amount minus taxes. Wrong. I called to get a check for the full amount for a tax-free rollover, and three weeks later it was still ‘pending.’ We did a conference call, me, my money guy, and the payee, and will hopefully get this resolved in the coming week.

I’ll retire at some point in 2024. My biggest concern is my health and my health coverage. I need some ‘work’ done and my place of employment not only provides me with coverage at no cost, but they will reimburse the $500 deductible if required for surgery. Time’s a’wasting!

Like last year, there will not be a TV Bear-a-Thon for New Years. Honestly, I don’t imagine I’ll make it past 10pm. We’ll have Chinese food instead of a buffet, though. Maybe shrimp lo mein for me :o)

And also today I did some paper shredding. I found a box last week with tax records from 2003-2005. I also shredded the journal I found from late 1973 through March 1974. *shudders* That ‘me’ was a shadow to forget. TBH I sounded more whiny than adolescent Anakin. I saved one piece of one page, though, with a dear friend’s obituary taped to it: she died 50 years ago come January 3rd.

holiday, home, nostalgia, retirement
