It’s just past mid-week, and though I do not have a lot to show for my letting-go attempts I have made some headway. I organized some boxes and got them stored under the stairs. I was able to get these placed because I pulled out several computer items I forgot I had there. I also found some boxes and bags of old financial records.
I cannot get over the amount of checks and statements I have here from the early eighties onward. You know, before electronic payments and debit cards we generated a Lot of paper! Yes, there are ATM receipts from over 35 years ago, but those are simple deposits and withdrawals. The checks, though... so many checks! 90% of our store purchases were by check. *snicker* there were a few credit card carbon slips as well.
Sadly, so many of these checks were to stores no longer in business here: Star Market, Almacs, Benny’s, GFox, Jordan Marsh, SaveRite, Sears, and other old icons that one never expected to close. Even Ma Bell!
The new shredder is doing an exemplary job :D
The computer items were part of my collected cast-aways from work. In all I pulled six pc’s, three monitors, and two cd-rom towers out of here along with myriad cables and various OS software packets. I packed all the hardware into the truck along with other useless electronics and took them

All I kept from this load was this 5.25 drive. I still have four computers in the cellar, including my original 386.
Two songs came to mind when loading the truck. One by Terry Jacks, and this classic-

- I cleaned the gutters, again. I Rube Goldberged a stand for the blower and attached a twenty foot hose to it so I could work the spout more easily while hanging out the third floor windows.
- I signed up for three free months of Spotify. I’m listening to The Pusher as I type.
- The pumpkins have been broken up for the critters, and the critters they did come by
Enough!
