six of seven

Mar 12, 2012 20:39

Today I finished the fifth (of six) prompt posts for this month. I'm quite proud of myself, even though I did have some issues getting started/figuring out how to write a couple of them. I don't know if I have a favorite, but Handiwork was fun to write. Not that they all weren't, but the following of the pairing of Sanada/Yagyuu isn't big and I felt a bit satisfied finishing it. (At least on AO3, I'm the only one who's tagged fic with the pairing.)

Here's a breakdown of what I finished:

For nerdish // Locked In

For alexdonnelly // A Lesson in Flexibility

For absolutehymn007 // Handiwork

For sac527 // Love Game

For kedi_kedi // Stripopoly

I still have one more in the queue for
thislife_is_beautiful that I hope to start tomorrow.

On the subject of writing, I received a comment on AO3 from one of my older stories. I've left out the parts that aren't pertinent to the point I'm trying to make.
You TOTALLY have to post this on fanfiction.net so that the world may see it! In any case, if you'd allow me to, I'd like to re-post this on ff.net if you won't~ Full credit goes to you obviously. So, will you allow me to do the honors?

I replied with:
As flattered as I am, I don't want to post my works or have them posted for me on ff.net.

And the response:
Aww~ that's too bad but understandable.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing terribly against FF.net. I've read some very good fic there, but more often than not I find horrible things worthy of the site's nickname, "The Pit." I just don't want to post my stuff there. Sure it would give me more exposure, but if I wanted it, I'd create an account and add it all.

I guess I don't quite understand why reposting it on FF.net is so important. Why not just make a req list and put it on there? I don't know, but it really rubbed me the wrong way.

I posted this conundrum on Twitter and got a few responses (thank you!) but I'd like to put it out there. What do you guys think about stuff like that?

On Saturday, I decided to treat myself and got my first set of acrylics done.

I really like them. I think next time I'll get some nail art done. I really want sakura done and I saw a good sample on my way out, but those were way too long for my liking. I also looked at an at-home acrylics kit, but I don't know that I could do my own nails. I am not nearly as awesome at nail art as turkeyimposter.

We'll see what happens when I go for my first fill.
