I went to a ceilidh last night! It was like contra dancing, only with more Scottish music. w00t! I danced a little, being careful of my leg, but I held up pretty well. In fact, it's not my leg or knee that hurts, it's my ankles. Went with some hallmates, R and N - fellow JSA's - and (these initials come out sounding wrong...) S and M; S is from York and M is from Stockholm. We had a great time discussing the dishy fiddler from the band "Last Tram Tae Auchenshuggle" and I even got to dance with a guy in a kilt! It's really nice to have found some friends here.
Friday night was my first Bop. I'm not sure I agree with Canandrew that it is a "high school dance gone horribly, horribly right," but it was fun nevertheless. I might go again next week, but I don't think I'll go every week. Next weekend I'm going to meet
aardvarklf in Edinburgh; I'm really looking forward to that.
Classes start tomorrow. I'm now enrolled in Materials Chemistry, The Old Order and Its Transformation, and Church History II: The Late Medieval and Early Modern Church and Its Philosophy. All seem like they should be interesting, even if they weren't exactly what I was hoping for. I'm a little worried about getting to the divinity course, though; there are two divinity buildings marked on the map and I have no idea which one my class is in; nor what/where my classroom is. They don't tell you this at registration like they do at w&m. I do at least know where my chemistry course is, but I likewise have no idea where the history course is. Hopefully I'll be able to find everything.
Well, I think that's the posting for now; I'm going to go chill in the front hall and then head to bed early tonight.
