Coeur d'Alene Police say that a Rathdrum man's claim that he was hit by a driver on New Year's Eve is bogus.
Chuck Blankenship said Monday that he was hit by a driver at 1st and Lakeside and that driver moved his body out of the way and then took off.
“I was left for dead … I was half frozen to death … could barely get the numbers dialed on my phone number,” Blankenship said.
It turns out that there wasn’t a hit and run after all. Instead police say that Blankenship was so drunk he doesn’t remember trying to climb a parking garage at 1st and Lakeside and then falling, breaking a leg and both ankles.
