Koyama had changed. He wasn’t the same airhead he used to be, a bit stupid and slow; an adorable dork. But ever since he started to work as a newscaster, his personality had changed along with his appearance. His blond hair were now dyed black, giving him a much more serious and adult image than before. But it wasn’t just the man’s looks that were different; he seemed more intellectual than he used to as well, watching the news every day and reading the newspapers, and actually not coming out with as many stupid remarks anymore. Of course he was the same Koyama inside; childish, dorky and playful, but these sides didn’t show quite as much as before. Koyama had changed; or maybe he just started to act his age.
And Shige hated it. He didn’t by any means hate Koyama, of course, but he missed the old version a lot. He missed the man, (or well, at that time he was just a boy) that he had met so may years ago, the man he fell in love with. Shige still loved Koyama, and it was a mutual emotion, but he missed him. Missed to just hang out, being silly and cuddle; just be. But they didn’t have enough time for that anymore; Koyama was busy studying for his various projects as a newscaster, and they were both occupied with being entertainers as well, something that was awfully hectic most of the time.
Shige was used to always be the prioritized one when it came to Koyama, but not anymore. Of course Koyama wanted to spend time with the younger one, but somehow his job was just as important, something that made Shige sad. He missed the old Koyama; the one who always made time for him and said stupid things that Shige could laugh at. He missed the man that was hidden behind the suit and the tie, the one that didn’t have time to be shown anymore.

Shige sighed when he entered his apartment. He had a day of hard work behind him; he had been busy the entire day and felt totally exhausted. There were noises coming from his living room, the TV was turned on; and Shige smiled when he saw Koyama sitting at the couch. The older waved and smiled when he saw Shige in the hallway. “Welcome back!”
Shige smiled. “I’m home.” He dragged his feet over the floor and dropped down beside Koyama, leaning his head on the man’s shoulder. “I’m exhausted.”
Koyama patted his head and kissed his temple. “Then rest some.”
“Are you free tonight?”
Koyama was quiet for a while. “Sorry…I have to film for News every.”
“Okay.” Shige had to admit that he get disappointed, he had wanted to spend the night with Koyama; fall asleep in his arms this night, like it should be. He had tried to hide the disappointment when speaking, but Koyama still seemed to notice.
“Shige, I’m sorry. I know we barely have time to spend with each other these days, but I’m sure I will get less busy soon.”
Shige shook his head. “It’s fine. Prioritizes has to be made.” It was the truth, but it stung a little to say it anyway, just because it was…well, true. But he didn’t want to make Koyama feel bad. He had enough on his mind already; he didn’t have to know that his boyfriend was more or less depressed because the older didn’t have any time for him as well.
It didn’t matter how much Shige tried to avoid it; he stilled ended up being a bit grumpy, curling up at the couch all alone when Koyama left. The older hadn’t even told him whether he would return to Shige’s apartment later that night or if he would just go back to his own place. Shige got a bit sad because of it; he loved his boyfriend, so of course he wanted to spend time with him. He actually wanted to cry a bit at that moment, but that would have been too dramatic of him, so he held the tears back. Maybe he was just silly who felt upset over such a small thing as this, but he wanted to be with Koyama. It was all he wanted. He didn’t seem to be the romantic type at all, but just as any other human being he needed love, or more like it; he needed Koyama. They had always been together, and when Shige now felt a bit neglected, it broke his heart a little. He felt pathetic when the tears finally left his eyes and he was unable to stop them, but he let them fall nonetheless. Maybe it was okay to be a bit pathetic sometimes.
Shige had eventually fallen asleep, but he woke up when he felt a warm hand caressing his arm softly, and a familiar voice was whispering his name. “Shige? Are you sleeping?”
Shige opened his eyes and blinked a few times in the light of a lamp before he could distinguish Koyama’s face just a few inches from his own. “Keii…? What are you doing here?”
Koyama just smiled, that smile that hadn’t changed at all, that always made Shige feel all warm inside. “I have something for you.” He smiled again before holding up a big bouquet of flowers and a box of luxurious-looking chocolate. “
Shige just stared at him. “What’s this?”
Koyama’s smile faded slightly, and he lowered his gaze. “Well, actually…I wanted to say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not having time for you, I can see that you get sad because I’m so busy, and…well, I wanted to do something for you.”
Shige could only smile and feel a comfortable warmth and happiness rush through his body while he pressed his lips against Koyama’s, trying to make the older understand how happy he was without having to say any words. He smiled towards the older when they parted, and pressed their foreheads against each other. “You have to be the sweetest person ever.”
“It is Valentine’s day after all.”
Shige let his head fall down on the pillow again. “Yeah, you’re right…Shit; I forgot that it was today.” He crinkled his face into a grimace and sighed. “Keii, sorry. I haven’t bought you anything.”
Koyama laughed lightly and pressed his lips to Shige’s forehead. “It’s not like I expected a home-made cake or anything. Chocolate is overrated by the way; you’re better.”
Shige laughed and hit Koyama in the head. “I understand the hint you’re giving me.”
Koyama smiled before pressing his lips to Shige’s, sweet and soft. Shige sighed happily into the kiss and placed a hand behind Koyama’s neck to deepen it slightly. Moments like this healed him; and the earlier sadness was like blown away. Maybe the small distance that Koyama’s job created between them didn’t make them weaker, but stronger. However, Shige was certain that he wouldn’t stop loving Koyama just because the older was busy or seemed more grown-up than he previously had. He was still Koyama after all, and that was more than enough.

Happy Valentine’s Day! <3
I seriously didn’t plan to write a Valentine’s day-fic, but this one was just lying around in my fanfic-folder, and I found it good enough to post. The title is shamelessly stolen from The Bangles song Eternal flame (much love on that song)
It’s not Tegomass, but I seriously love Koyato just as much <3
I hope everyone liked it! Thanks for reading, and comments are love <333
