Please don't throw loaded rifles over fences

I'll defer to lumley's description of the first day of firearms safety training, AKA "how to act like you're in school again by sitting at the front of the class and then mocking all of the overly-keen students around you, despite the fact that you're sitting at the front of the class, too."

I have the feeling that the practical portion of our test tomorrow isn't going to be too hard. The instructor (current firefighter and former Brinks employee) says that he doesn't expect us to be gun experts, only that we can go through the steps of making sure a gun is unloaded and safe to handle. That sounds like you can be walked through some parts, so long as you don't do something silly like point the gun at people or look down the barrel before opening the action.

Ejecting shells from a pump-action shotgun is just as cool in real life as it is in the movies.
